For Christmas this year I was looking at purchasing theme park tickets for SIL and her family (2 adults and 2 kids both under the age of 9). They live in FL and would have an opportunity to revisit the park so I was thinking of doing a two day pass and park hopper so they could go to a water park. It's quoting me over a thousand dollars on the website. I knew it was expensive these days but not $1000+. yikes! Her kids love the water. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting the price down or helping me choose the best parks for them to experience? It would be their first time at going to WDW. And I haven't been in years, possibly decades. I don't even know what are the cool things to do there anymore.
FL residents get a pretty good discount on WDW admission. I too would recommend buying her a gift card so that she can purchase them as a resident. (3 day water park & more option for $862).

Ditto the gift card. From Jan-May they have a "Wild for 3 pass" (might have a new name?) and it is like $129/pp for 3 days, any parks, or you can add park hopper (multiple parks in 1 day) for $20 or waterparks for $20, or even a 4th day for about $20. Definitely the way to go! Or even look for it in December.
