I have all the books I could need, and what more could I need than books? I shall only engage in commerce if books are the coin. -- Catherynne M. Valente
Like Leo has had ice cream, cake, muffins, cookies etc. Just bites of what we are eating. But no candy and he is 17 months. He couldn't eat it even if I gave him some due to lack of teeth.
I know when we took C to Disney World, she was nearly 2 1/2, we did not let her have any of the lollipops, etc they sell. We did let her have ice cream or other dessert items.

So, am I going to look like a weirdo if I take my 13 month old trick or treating on my block?
I think it would be fun for him to grab something out of the bowl, and he's really social and would love it. I'm not going to stuff him full of candy. Maybe I'll let him taste chocolate?

M and I walked around the neighborhood last year- most people there sat at the edge of the driveway and handed out candy....she didn't collect any, but she walked around and showed off her costume and said hi to people. She had a ball! So, nah, not a weirdo.
Ok, maybe someone will offer me a reeces pumpkin. That would be cool.

Around 20 months MIL had M&Ms out and she grabbed a few and has been an addict ever since Before that she'd have bites of dessert on the occasions we had it if she was interested so she'd had cake/ice cream/etc
ETA: she's 3 and this is the first years he'll actually get to keep her candy, before Dh and I ate 90% of it so take that for what its worth.

Meh, I'm sure I was more uptight about it with Cambria than I am with Bonnie. She doesn't eat much candy, but she's had the occasional piece of candy. She's 22 months.

Hell if I can remember. Probably 2ish, but she might have had a bite of something I was eating earlier. DS is 13 months and hasn't had candy that I can remember, but I'm pretty sure my brain looks like Swiss cheese so who knows.

When my daughter was 1 we went Trick or Treating with some friends and she walked up to a couple of houses. It was fun for her. Last year (when she was 2) was even more fun and this year she's so excited! My daughter had a taste of her first sucker at 2.5 as a reward for pooping on the toilet for the first time. She hadn't had any hard candy before then, but she had had chocolate.
I JUST gave DS (20months) his first peice of candy yesterday. It was a gummy worm from the candy table from our party. I had given his sister a couple and he got pissed off so I thought ahhh fuck it.
My DD (3 1/2) had her first piece of candy at 21 months at Halloween. She was TOTing and I figured she should get SOMETHING for all that walking.
DS (17 months) gets the odd bit of cookie or cake if we're at something, but I don't really let him have candy. I had to ask daycare to not let him etiher, because sometimes the older kids do at special occasions (birthdays, etc) and I was worried they would let DS have some. I would rather avoid it as long as possible. He also has bad teeth so we have to be extra mindful.

Last summer when Moonpie was 20 months old, i gave her a blowpop. It kept her quiet for the 2.5 hour car ride. Of course, she was so sticky that when I got her out of the car she practically stuck to me, but I'll take a sticky baby over a screaming baby any day of the week.
DD has had reese's pb cups and small bits of chocolate bar. No lollipops, hard candies or gum. She's 17 months. For us, it's more of a choking hazard thing.
