I have one and both H and I love it. I'm confused as to why it's $10000 more though. We got a fancy Hyundai a couple years later and the Ford handles better. It is great in the winter too.
I drive a Ford Freestyle and I love my Big Blue. The Escape is teeny weeny though, I would never be able to fit my family and rather large dog in it. I believe the Edge is the successor to the Freestyle.

My co-worker has one and loves it. But we live in SoCal, so it doesn't really see weather.
We're looking for a similar vehicle - and I just can't get over the body styling of the CR-V. I have no idea why, but I just don't like it. I think we're leaning to a Kia or Subaru.
I think escapes and edges have a really good reputation. I've never had one though.
This is true. I know a few people that have different Ford vehicles and they all love them. My manager has a brand new Escape and she is pretty smitten with it. My FIL has an Edge and he loves it. I borrowed it once and it was a great ride.

When I looked to buy a new car, I chose between a Rav-4 and an Escape. I chose the Escape ultimately and couldn't be happier. I have a 2010 and it's never had any problems (I don't drive a whole lot though). A word of caution though, it does have a lot of road noise when driving. If that doesn't bother you than you probably won't care.
We have a 2005 Escape (bought in 2004) that has 130k miles on it now and hasn't had any issues. We love our Escape. I don't particularly like the look of the new Escapes, but ours was a good buy.

We have a 2012 Escape and love it, although I think the newer models are ugly. I also have a Forester, which I love equally as much, but the Escape has more room.
We bought a new Focus a few years ago. We like the car, Ford's been great to deal with, and it gets excellent gas mileage. That said, they "re-did" their transmissions and ours SUCKS. If you consider Ford, tell them you know there were issues with the model year 2012 transmission and does this model (whatever one you're looking at) have that transmission. If it does, take it off your list. It's functional but fucking annoying especially if you do most of your driving NOT on the highway.
We just bought a new car, and we were debating between the new Rav4 and the 2014 Forester. The Forester won - its interior is bigger and it had more features. And I'm a loyal Toyota owner too, and I freaking LOVE the forester.
And I'm pretty sure the Outback is the signature Les-buru
i am rolling over at 'i have an escape and have NEVER had an issue'!
that is the problem. fords are ridiculously inconsistent. a whole bunch of them will operate like other vehicles, where routine maintenance is needed and expected. then a good portion of them will be hunks of shizz that will spiral your finances and sanity into the ground.
can't say that about any other car manufactureur.
My friend had a Jetta that was a piece of crap. I'm pretty sure you can say that about other car manufacturers other than Ford.
I had a 2004 Escape. I regretted he purchase. It was loud on the highway and anytime I drive more than an hour my leg hurt.
I got a 2012 CRV last year and love it. My only complaints are it drips water in if I open the window in the rain and I can't lock the doors with the key fob unless they are all shut. I save $10 a week on gas too with the better mileage.
I have a 2012 Escape and love it. I never thought I would buy one either until I test-drove it and it really ended up giving us a lot of space for the value.
That being said, the new Escapes are all squished down, so I wouldn't blame you for hating them.
on the news tonight they were talking about how the RAV-4 is not passing the crash tests done by consumer reports and they are no longer endorsing the RAV 4, camry, or Prius V
