My granny is 92 . I went to visit her and she is having trouble walking, even moving, has a wheelchair and needs help with every day things. When I went to visit her, she kept falling asleep and seemed out of it. Like asking me if I knew my moms husband (they've been married over 20 years). She also has Parkinson's and dementia.
Is the sleepiness etc. part of the dying process? I guess I'm just trying to prepare myself for the inevitable. She is my only grandparent left and has been the best grandma I could ever ask for. I don't want this to happen, but such is life.

This was similar to how my grandmother (who also had dementia) was about a month or so before she passed. The last time my dad and I visited with her, she was lying on the couch and got tired after about 10 minutes of talking.

((hugs and hair pats))
In my experience, yes, sleepiness was a sign, but I don't want to freak you out by saying that its the only thing it could be. This might sound bad, but I was almost happy when my grandmother got to that stage because I could tell she wasn't in pain. It was like she was finally getting some rest, finally getting a break from the sickness....
