The movie was awesome. I personally rate it #3 behind Toy Story 3 and UP, but I may be biased with having a daughter and really relating to the story line.

It was fun, not the best Pixar I've seen (the short may have been though), but good. My poor kiddo had serious mommy issues the rest of the day though.

I loved it too. The plot surprised me...it wasn't what I expected from the trailer (not in a bad way though). Very funny, although I teared up at the end as well!
My coworker said it was "weird" and scary for very small children. But I just want to go with my husband. :/ And that's the only negative review I've seen.
There were moments that were startling (bears involved), but Jackson didn't think it was scary at all. Of course, he'll be 6 in October, so he's not super young.
The story's magic seemed more grown up than some of the other Princess movies... or something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but then when I look at other Princess movies, I see there are similar storylines and themes. So I don't know what it is.

I've already decided I like it since it's about a curly haired ginger and one of my favorite people is a curly haired ginger.
We won a free ticket from Subway, but I gave it to someone I think will actually sit through the movie. But she does have a little bag with the girl on it. Which she enjoys putting stuff in.

Spoiler!
Possibly that the bear was mostly friendly but then would randomly turn violent?

grace did not handle the mother/daughter relationship issues well at all. we were at the drive in and i had to climb into the passenger's seat so she could sit on my lap the rest of the movie. she's emotional like that, though.

My boss also said it might be scary for small children. But DH wants to take PTS. She's 3.5 and scare pretty easily (still can't watch Snow White all the way through). Those who have seen it, would PTS be okay?
If she scares easy, I'd probably be prepared to cover her eyes in a couple scenes but would otherwise be ok.
My cousin asked on FB if it would be ok to take is 4.5 yo DD to - some member of his church piped in with a very pearl-clutchy "NO!! There is MALE NUDITY and witchcraft in that movie!!"
The nudity was Jackson's second favorite part, haha (spoiler alert *********he said his favorite was when the mom changed back********)
The thing about the scariness stuff is that it was more the type of startle/loud noise scary, like the shark in Finding Nemo, maybe? So I kind of jumped, but it was pretty quickly not scary, kwim?
I loved the message that the mom needed to change to and appreciate who her daughter was and not who she wanted her to be. And those three little boys, omg. I just loved them. It made me want some rowdy triplet boys.

FWIW, I took my 2.5yo this weekend and she loved it. She sat through the whole thing and couldn't stop talking about the bears and Merida when it was over.
However, my 6yo niece cried and screamed "when will it be over?!" throughout the movie.

Just chiming in to say I loved it too! I thought it was the best Disney movie in a long time, and personally it's my favorite Pixar movie too. (I don't like Toy Story, UP and Wall-E were great but I enjoyed this more).
I especially liked that she didn't end up in a romantic relationship! And that they stuck to the medieval theme and there were no stupid pop culture references. I think that will make Brave a timeless movie you can show your grandkids eventually

I like the reviews on here! We plan to take my 5yo Ginger son soon but not my 3yo twins. They scare too easily and have not been to a theatre yet so want that first time to be something lighter.
My friend who had identical triplet boys went by herself bc she wanted to pay attention and enjoy it. She loved it!
SBP, it's just scary in a few parts. I cried in it, but only because I related so much to the story. I was just blown away at the storyline and how beautiful it was. They seriously did an amazing job. The music was beautiful and not overdone or cheesy.

Me and my husband really want to see it SBP- my son is 3 and doesn't do great in movies where he's not familiar with the characters. We bought the Brave storybook app and have been playing it with him on the iPad. He really likes the game and puzzles, and also enjoys the story. Now when he sees the preview on tv he gets excited.
