If so, were they looking for something specific? I had my gallbladder out in May, but am still having upper right quadrant pain. Liver looks normal so this is the next step. What was the process/procedure like for you, if you don't mind sharing?

I had an endoscopy when I had internal bleeding and pain in my lower chest area. They didn't know what was going on. Turns out I had bleeding ulcers. Who knew?
The procedure was easy. I had a follow up procedure a few weeks later as well. They put you under, you feel nothing, you wake up not too groggy. I drove myself home.
I also had my gallbladder out. That surgery was more difficult than the endoscopy.
I have had two for GI issues. They put me under with a sedative and while I slept through my procedures, both times I tried taking the tube out so I was aware of it being there. The first time, I do remember trying to take it out and them saying, "no, no, no" and then going back to sleep. The second time, i had told my doctor about my first experience so they really loaded me up with the sedative, but I still tried to pull it out. It took three adults, including two men, to pull my hands off the tube. The male nurse was very impressed with my strength. LOL
Overall, it was not terrible. It really does feel like one minute you are awake and the next you are in recovery waking up.
It's easy. You don't eat for some amount of time before hand, you get an IV and take a weird groggy nap. I don't come out of any anesthesia easily, so there is no way in hell I could drive myself home, and I definitely needed the rest of the afternoon off work to sleep it off. I really only remember trying to chew on the tube (but in reality I think I was chewing on the mouth guard). And also, where I was they do colonoscopies too, so in the recovery room there was lots and lots of farting colonoscopy patients. LOL!
I enjoyed my propofol nap. I remember being wheeled into the room, and then waking up in recovery. You'll never know it happened.
Super easy procedure. You wake up from your propofol nap feeling like you've slept for days, but it's only been minutes. It wears off quickly, so you don't spend much time in recovery before you can go home.
Yes, and it was easy. I was so terrified of it, and honestly I ended up not feeling it at all. I had it done a few years ago, because I was vomiting every morning, and they couldn't figure out why. They did the upper endoscopy, and found nothing, because it was vertigo, but nevertheless, I had the procedure.
My dr was fantastic, and told me that I would not feel a thing. I was given the sedative through the IV, and they started counting backwards, and the next thing I remember, I was waking up in the recovery room. When I woke up, I asked when they were going to get started. They laughed, and said that they were already finished.

Thank you! I react pretty strongly to sedation so H is going to take me and drive me home. I'm glad for the most part it was pretty easy for everyone. cleo29 your dream sounds terrifying.

I had it done a few years ago when I was having wierd chest pains and all the cardiac tests were normal. I remember them starting the IV, then the Dr telling the nurse "you'd bette put the bite guard in" and then I woke up in recovery. Strange! I was a little dizzy at first, but no other probs. And they found out I had esophageal erosions/erosive esophagitis, so I took Prevacid for a few months and quit drinking OJ. No more problems since!

Clearly, I am not the norm, so don't let it scare you. I think I was just scared of gagging or whatever and it made me ultra aware or something.
I did get a kick out of how surprised that one nurse was with my strength. He kept giving me this surprised looks. lol
