No set hours here. Doesn't bother me...we live in a small neighborhood of 25 or so houses, back off a main road that kids from outside of these two streets don't bother to cross because there's not enough candy in it for them. The kids that *do* live here usually get together at 6/6:30, split into a few smaller groups, and ToT together.
That's exactly what I said. I don't get home from work until 5:30. I only started leaving work early on Halloween when my daughter started daycare - the center has a costume parade & open house for the parents (also, it closes early on Halloween).
I grew up in Philly. Kids started ToT closer to 6pm, when it was dark out. Starting at 3pm feels weird.
This year we're only doing the mall thing though. Theo turns into a crazy beast after 5:30 and needs to be in bed by 6, so we're ToTing at the mall from 3-5
"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny
5:30 - 7:30, and I admit I get irritated when they still come past 8. I love passing out candy, but after a few hours the charm of getting up off the couch that often gets lost.
None here. We go out when the sun goes down and stay out for about a half hour. That is all my son can stand and then it's home to hand out candy. Once we are out of candy I close my front gate with a "no candy" sign and that is it.
Usually the young kids are out before the sun goes down. By about 8pm or so the stupid teenagers come out. It goes until probably 10pm. Most people just turn their porch lights off when they are out of candy.

We do (unsure of hours; I'd have to check what they are), but I know last year it ended at like, 7, and I had people ringing the bell well after 8, even with all the lights off. This year, at least Rox can scare them away.
ETA: Looked it up and all it says is, "TOTers must be home by 8 PM." So I guess no start time this year. Plus I KNOW it ended by 7 last year. I don't like that they are extending it. Yes, I'm a scrooge.
