Is there really not a Thursday thread yet today? Hello, everyone, and Happy Halloween! What's going on today?
QOTD: If you celebrated Halloween growing up, what's your favorite tradition? (This question inspired by the fact that DH and I just carved our first pumpkin ever this year. YouTube taught us how since it wasn't a thing in either of the cities where we grew up.)
I am taking a mental health day. The job I went back to is super high stress and even though I am not supposed to work more than a certain number of hours per week, I am expected to be on call all the time. So, today, I decided I will check emails as necessary, but will not going racing anywhere for any impromptu meetings or get sucked into any last-minute conference calls. Instead, I am cooking up a storm at home for a potluck Halloween party tonight in my building and for a School Harvest party/fundraiser to take place tomorrow night.
I'm making: lentil soup, pumpkin curry and pumpkin cheesecake. Plus a cauliflower au gratin for myself to eat for lunch today and take the leftovers to the office tomorrow.
QOTD: I loved it all growing up, but costumes are the best part for me. I still dress up. I also have a particularly fun memory of getting my friends in Spain to bob for apples in someone's apartment bathtub the year I was studying abroad there.

No clients today so I've taken a bath, cleaned dishes, did three loads of laundry & hung them all up, went grocery shopping (found American goods like chocolate pudding at Tesco which is making me happy), did dishes and played on the internet. And the in-laws are taking us out to dinner tonight - yay, Turkish food!
QOTD: I just loved (and still love) dressing up in costumes. England is a great place for me to live as people here live for what they call 'fancy dress'.

Happy Thursday. Today did not at all go as planned. I tried to roll with the punches and still be productive. I managed to slash 5 pages of my conference paper, make a new organizational sheet for it (I am still on schedule so that is my main concern), did some grocery shopping and will have a political meeting tonight. DH just came home and so we're quickly going to watch a Halloween movie before I have to leave for my meeting.
Hello! We had a grand total of TWO trick-or-treaters. Womp womp. Now we have 5 bags of candy leftover. H is sad that we didn't get more trick-or-treaters, but I guess that's what we get from living in a neighborhood full of old people.
QOTD: Carving pumpkins. I've never really loved dressing up in costumes, but did it for the candy. I think I probably stopped trick-or-treating younger than most people stop (I think my last year was when I was maybe 10 or 11?)
We put pumpkins in our window. Our kitty sat up there to watching the people walk by. We don't pass out candy because of living in an apartment. I had my nails painted like Frankenstein but no costume because the school I am teaching at doesn't do costumes.
