As most of you know I work in health care (specifically clinical research) for a hospital that is part of the Partners system and have been in my job now for 2+ years.
I've been applying to jobs here and there that spark my interest. I'd like something that pays a little more and an opportunity to learn some new skills. I'm currently in a coordinator role and would like to take the next step.
So I was called today and asked to come in and interview on Monday for an analyst role at hospital outside of the city. Salary would be higher and commute would be much shorter. Would also be new tasks but very related to what I do now.
Question is, do you think I would be shooting myself in the foot by going to a smaller hospital, rather then staying at a prominent one in Boston?

I agree not shooting yourself in the foot. I've worked for Fortune 500, medium sized firms, and a small firm and the small firm has allowed me to grow a lot more than the other places. I definitely deal with a smaller support staff and less infrastructure but I definitely get to take on a lot of different things. I haven't been in hospitals/medical fields, just accounting firms and tax departments.
Higher salary + shorter commute sounds amazing! Congrats on getting the interview. In short, I don't think this would be shooting yourself in the foot. I'm going to send you a PM.
