I took it Thursday morning before we left for the wedding/honeymoon. We have no cell service here so we went for a drive today and when we got into cell service area, I got a message from my doctor saying I failed the 3 hour glucose test.
So now my husband (which is still weird to say) is trying to tell me I can't have my Mt. Dew, or cookies, or brownies, or Cap'n Crunch Berries, or pretty much anything else I eat.
I have to call the doc tomorrow to see what I need to do once we get back from the cabin/our honeymoon.
Oh, man I'm sorry. Also, he is kind of right. I mean you can have some stuff but in moderation. I got a kit to test my sugars four times a day (I am assuming that is what they will want you to do) and had to go in for NTS and u/s to check fluid levels.
Some tips are eating small, frequent meals through out the the day, lots of water and walking, walking, walking. Walking after a meal is really good at bringing your sugars down.

Also, I really like Murray's Sugar free cookies.
I know he's right. I keep telling him that I at least need to have my morning Dew or he won't want to deal with me the rest of the day! ;D
styme, I have type 2 diabetes. I was diagnosed when I was 14 and have had it ever since. My doctor is about to put me on insulin (I'm 23) for the first time because it's so out of control. I know what you're going through and it's hard...but, it's not the end of the world.
You can still have everything you love, just in smaller portions. I remember when I was first diagnosed, my doctor told me no more Dairy Queen. I think I might have cried. My mom rolled her eyes at him and told him to STFU and stop scaring me. True, you have to eat better and have to really watch what you eat, but that doesn't mean you're banned to a life without cookies. I might die.
Seriously though, if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I eat like crap. And I know it. So I'll just have to be super dedicated to eating better and moderating my sweets intake. Which is super hard to do right now since it's all that sounds good to me, but I'll get it done.
I'm not sure how high my levels were or anything since I didn't get the message until after my doctor's office had closed so I'm not sure if they will just let me try to control it with diet for now or not.
I'm already on the cusp of high risk since I had B at 32 weeks. I had an ultrasound last Monday to check on things because of that and have one scheduled for 6 weeks from now so I'm sure that part of it won't really change. I just hope it doesn't ruin my plans for a VBAC attempt!

I think it doesn't ruin your chance at a VBAC, if anything you will most likely be induced early. I went into labor 4 days before my induction date.
Buzz kill alert: When I had GD with my daughter, there were no sweets allowed of any kind, not in moderation or anything. When I was diagnosed and before I could go see the dietitian assigned to explain everything, they were very clear that I should stop with all the stuff that was blatantly sugary, like desserts and pop. Your doctor or a dietitian will put you on the GD diet, which I'm sorry to tell you, sucks. Basically nothing sweet and no carbs without also eating protein. Also eating a certain number of times a day a certain number of hours apart to keep your blood sugar as level as possible. It is pretty joyless at first. But you'll find things that keep you happy as far as sweets. I REALLY loved sugar-free Jello pudding.
That was my experience, but maybe my doctor was like really hard core or something.
Ugh, I'm so sorry man. I am not going to lie. It sucks. It sucks hard. But you only have a few weeks left.
Sugar free creamers are really good if you like coffee drinks. PB cracker packages are good snacks. PB will be your best friend in the next few weeks. LOL
You'll learn at what times of the day you can have certain foods and it won't spike your blood sugar. Like, no fruit and cereal in the morning for breakfast. Yogurt is a good snack, but not with a meal, etc.
Seeing a dietician will help you a lot.
Hang in there!!
Oh yes! Peanut butter is the saving grace of this diet! Everyone is different in how they process different sugars. Some people's sugar spikes with milk because of the lactose, but my body didn't react to it at all, so I was fine to continue my beloved milk. Definitely my dietitian said to keep the sugar low in the morning. Peanut butter toast was and still is my official breakfast.

Also, watch your intake of items with sugar substitute. The substitutes still do spike your sugar, just not nearly as much. Depending on how under control your diabetes is, this may not matter or it may be a big deal. Only your doctor can tell you what you should be doing right now.
