Planning a trip to Chicago and trying to figure out the ease of traveling between Logan Square and the Gold Coast area. Do those neighborhoods/areas make sense?
I won't have a car, but I also won't be schlepping a baby, so lay it on me. Thanks!!
You'd have to transfer, but you can definitely take the L. It'd probably take a half hour, or less depending on where in Logan Square and where on the Gold Coast. The L is easy and quick, though
I think you can access the Blue Line at the Chicago station, which is Mag Mile area, but you could walk from the Gold Coast. Or you can take the Red Line to the Blue Line, like Em said.
You could also cab it but the El is probably faster and obviously cheaper.

It depends on where in the gold coast. You can probably get on the blue line in Logan Square and transfer to the red line. If it is just barely in the gold coast, though, you might be able to just take the blue line into the loop and walk. I'd also check the bus schedule if you are going to be doing this alone at night. The bus feels safer to me at night since the driver is right there and there are a million cameras, and some of the routes run pretty late.
EDITED - because I can't read- you WON'T HAVE A BABY
Also, with a baby, I suggest avoiding public transport during rush hours during the week - the trains and buses get ridiculously packed and it is a huge PITA to have a stroller/baby in that chaos.
Echo the safety issues on the red/blue lines at night, just be alert and smart about where you/what you are doing.
