In the early days, I actually carried around 10 at one time. Now I carry 6 just in case we end up staying out longer than I intended (happens all the time for us).
-diapers -wipes -2 outfits in the newborn stage (he spit up and had tons of blowouts all the time) -burp cloth -blanket -nursing cover/nipple shield when I was still BFing -shirt for me during the newborn stage (I always get spit up on)
The only must for me was diapers, wipes, and a wet bag (for my cloth diapers). I usually carried 3-4 diapers when he was little and had a couple sposies in the bottom of the bag if we ran out (we never did). As long as you've got diapers, you'll be fine and figure out what you actually use in addition to that. I had a spare outfit and never ever used it - mine was not a puker and we never had a single blow out.
An addition: small trash bags (or grocery/Target bags) for putting the dirty diaper in. We use the small eco-friendly thin trash bags (Ruffies). We stick a bunch still attached together in a side pocket. That way they don't fly all over the place when you go to get one out.
Diapers (4-5?) Wipes Burp cloths Extra Bibs Extra onesie Nursing cover (or bottles) Pacifier Toy
I would say this is about what we had (minus the bib & paci). I would always keep a stash of diapers, wipes, and extra outfit in the car just in case, so you definitely don't need to carry around 15 diapers.
Small Plastic bags (for soiled clothes or for diapers if there's no garbage around) Several clean outfits (DS is a puker and he had tons of blowouts the first couple weeks). 4-5 diapers and wipes Ibuprofen (if you're still healing) Nipple cream (if needed) 2-3 receiving blankets/nursing covers 1-2 burp cloths Water bottle

I have a carrier, diapers, and wipes, and that is about it. Sometimes I have an extra outfit and/or a burp cloth. I also have a water cup and snacks for my older daughter. We travel lightly, which is sometimes a disaster, but usually works out.
I keep diapers and wipes in the car and just throw a burp cloth and paci in the car seat with the baby. I live dangerously. Haha.
If we are out all day I pack different things depending on where we are going. I usually have diapers, wipes, extra onesie, burp cloth and then a sippy and snack for the older kid. I carry sunscreen in my purse though and also have a little organizer in my car with snacks, a changing pad, blanket and toys. I usually keep the ergo and a travel boppy with nursing cover in there too.
Okay, good, everything listed sounds like what I was thinking. I'm going to go pack up my diaper bag
I just couldn't believe someone suggested SO many diapers to just haul around all the time...
If you have my newborn, or baje's baby....you need LOTS of diapers. They both would not sit in a wet diaper for 30 seconds. And newborns have lots of tiny pees. I could change her 3 times in an hour.
