I'm hosting for the second time. FIL, his wife, DH's grandma, my grandma and my parents will be coming. Glad I'll be able to drink this time around because ... well, I could have used it last year
We'll be heading back to St. Pete to split the holiday between three families. Being back in FL and close to family is a double-edged sword: while it's nice to be with family for the holidays, it makes things a lot more stressful. I'm kind of mourning the loss of our solo holidays now...while we were in NYC we developed our own traditions and I'd kind of rather just stay at home and do that instead of immersing myself in family drama (errr, I mean "fun." Yeah, "family fun"...that's it.)
Mrsmew, I know what you mean. H and I both wish we could just order food from Boston Market for the 2 of us! He did that 3 years ago when I was out of town for the holiday and he loved it.
This year my parents are coming to town as they always do but my mom wants to have it at my house instead of my ILs, where we usually go. (ILs are here in Tampa) I said I'll do whatever as long as my mom does almost all the work. And I made her call my MIL and set it up bc I didn't know if my MIL would be offended. Luckily MIL was good with it. So she'll make and bring some of her famous side dishes and my mom will do the rest. FIL and BIL will be there too. 7 ppl total. I'll help as much as I can but I'll prob be so uncomfortable by then, will be 35 weeks with the babies. Hopefully all will be fine!
I'm working. Bleck. It looks like we will have dinner before I head into work. The friends that we usually have over are all going OOT so it will be just the 4 of us!
We are just having a small dinner at home. I couldn't be more excited about it either! In years past we have tried going to my moms and H's mom all in the same day. It's just too much! I hosted last year, and while it was great not running around, I'm not up for a bunch of people this year. So, the 3 of us will eat early and plan our attack for BF shopping. I can't wait!
If my MIL doesn't have to work she'll come over and cook for us. If she gets stuck working we'll all go to my sisters house like we did last year. I'm looking forward to next year when I'm ready to host again. I love cooking all the Thanksgiving things. But this year I'm going to accept all the help I can get.
