James's. There is only one James! Would you pronounce it "I borrowed James car?"
It's been said, but both are technically correct, for the same reason why "alright" is technically correct - people keep using it and everyone's tired of correcting it.
As if it weren't annoying enough to deal with the big James/little James confusion, now I have to worry about this too?
I'm with toledo and think/know it should be James's, but H just came home and told me to change it to James' because everyone else would think I'm wrong. (And considering he's had the name for 34 years, he would know, right?)

As we can see here, having a name that ends in S does not mean that you understand the grammar involved in making yourself possessive. He's wrong. Stand your ground.
i HATE hate hate hate hate when names that end with S are deprived of their rightful plural form. s's FOR LYFE.
i don't care if the form of s' is permissible. "alot" is in the dictionary too. that doesn't make it correct.
My H's name is Ross. I usually type "Ross's". But that's different from James I think. "Ross's" sounds correct but how I'd say "James's" sounds weird to me, but I still think that's how I'd say it. I guess I don't say it that often, haha.

I definitely say James's. Because otherwise it would sound like, "Bring me James blanket," which is just plain dumb.

No. James' and James's are pronounced the same way.
