Did anyone see the second movie? Seeing that was one of the most uncomfortable situations I've been in. I felt embarrassed for them the entire time. Ugh.
I never got Carrie's appeal. Frankly, I always thought she was an annoying, whiny, kinda weird-looking moral free zone. At least Samantha was up front about herself, instead of trying to cloak herself in being some deep artiste (which, I agree with PP, Carrie is not, regardless of hysterics and swirling smoke, lol).
I was, however, jealous of the fact that she got to hang with Baryshnikov.
Upon further thought, I think I hate Miranda the most. She was always so high and mighty about everything. And no one could ever understand her problems because she was a special snowflake. And then she had the kid and acted like she was he first working mother ever.

I still enjoy SATC - well apart from the second movie which was toe curlingly painful to watch.
My least favorite character was also Carrie. I don't know, she just seemed so weak to me. I loved Samantha, until the second movie where it all just went toooooooo far.

I actually probably like Miranda the best because I like her dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Like the episode where she found out she was having a boy and was feigning enthusiasm because she didn't know how she was supposed to act. I relate to that kind of thing! Plus, dealing with Steven's mom, moving to Brooklyn from Manhattan, she seemed more like a real person. Charlotte lost me when she told her boyfriend (the one who became her husband) that she was so much more attractive than him. That was shitty.
Aren't they all assholes? Well except maybe Charlotte?
The others could at least function in the world. Miranda and Samantha had careers. Charlotte lived off the bank of mommy and daddy. Carrie, on the other hand, must have been turning tricks off screen. In addition to being a narcissistic, whiny, nitwit, Carrie never held a real job. A one paragraph column in the village voice is going to support a manhattan studio, let alone the lifestyle she supposedly lead while living there.
I was just out of college and living in Manhattan when it came out and never understood the appeal.
When it was on originally, I watched it and like it, and seeing reruns now I always wonder how I ever got through an episode of the show. It is truly terrible.
I can't believe that so many people still take the Sex and the City bus tour. I mean, the show ended what -- 10 years ago? But I see the bus ALL THE TIME. Particularly weird when the teens who were dragged along with their moms have to stand outside the sex toy store that is on the tour because they aren't old enough to go in.

Well, in the later seasons, she lived off of book royalties and her Vogue job. And her apartment was only like $450 a month before she went co-op. But no way could she afford all those fucking Manolos.
And I love how the guy at Prada knew her as a regular fucking customer. Lol.
lol. Yeah, I call bullshit. That apartment wasn't $450 a month because she wasn't in the South Bronx nor was she an 80 something retiree who had been there since WWII. Even if it had been $450, that would have been her entire salary for those early seasons, leaving her eating at soup kitchens and dressing from dumpsters.
I hate any show that drove people to NYC - where you can be anyone you want to be! No, you will still be the same asshole you were wherever you lived before. And if she had been paying $450 for THAT apartment the landlord would have killed her and dumped her body in Jersey.
I always hated this show and could never understand all the SATC love. Carrie is whiny and makes the worst choices in the world. Why did so many people think she was wonderful?
I think I hated them all equally at points, but I loved the series as a whole. Carrie was insufferable, though, and I never understood her appeal. Samantha was my favorite; she was an asshole, but at least she was honest about it.
I liked Carrie in the beginning. But the one thing that irked me as the show went on and the movies came out is that she had no character growth or development whatsoever.
Miranda, Samantha, Charlotte, you saw them mature and grow up. And Miranda and Samantha's storylines became my favorites in the last season and the first movie (I couldn't bring myself to watch more than 10 minutes of the second movie).
Carrie stayed the same shallow Carrie and it was annoying as hell.

What Carrie did to Aiden was awful and I have hated her since. It was so lousy and he was clearly the better choice, the hunky, hot furniture maker with the great cabin in the country (that she hated).
I also always hated almost everything she wore. Never understood how people raved about her fashion.
I did enjoy the show overall though. I liked Samantha because at least she was really out there with who she was and I thought that was cool.

Ah, yes. Black bras under white shirts. Another thing to thank the show for!

I hated how Carrie could always turn someone else's situation into a conversation about her. "That reminds me of ME!" And how everyone fawned over her and cared so much about her stupid life. Move to Paris, don't move to Paris, I don't care.
It also pissed me off how Big's moment of hesitation in the first movie was this huge betrayal. And how Miranda should forgive Steve for cheating on her, but how Carrie should never ever forgive Big because he was just AWFUL.
It was cute and quirky in the beginning but I thought they were all awful by the end, especially in the movies. Even Miranda, who I thought stayed the most "normal" in the television series, became a raging bitch in the first movie. The writers turned them into parodies of their original characters.

Yes! Like, really? He got nervous for like 5 mintues and you thought it was okay to beat him with your bouquet and call off the wedding? Really?
