I had both girls with me, which I have been avoiding because about halfway through they always end up fighting. Well, today was no different other than it just started far earlier. So, by the end, K is crying loudly (she is very loud) and all these people are looking at me as if 1) they have never seen or heard a young child cry and 2) like I am just ignoring the problem.
Well, as I get in line, the manager comes over to me and says "mam, we can take you over here." He pulled one of the bag boys and had him ring me up at the customer service desk.
While it was really nice of them to do this, it was kind of embarrassing. And I hate when people stare at a kid crying like this is some new thing.

Aw, sorry you had a rough time. I don't have kids, so I always just try to smile when I see kids having meltdowns because I'm not sure what else to do.
I hated taking the the kids to the store when they were that age. That's when I pulled out the phone and had them play a game. It's so nice of the manager to take you up front, though. Ugh.

ugh, it is so hard to take 2 kids to the store at that age. I remember when E was flipping.her.shit over a banana, and we were waiting to pay for it before she could eat it. Well there must have been an pre-apocalyptic rush at the store or something, because the lines were insane on this random weekday morning. She's losing it, and the manager sees me and is like "it's ok! Just eat the banana, free of charge!" I tried to give her a quarter, and she was like, "no, REALLY. Just let her eat it. *forced smile* We want our future customers to be happy!"
That age is rough. My sympathies, and I'm glad the manager opened up a spot for you.
I'm so sorry We were those kids, my little sister and I. We fought all.the.time. Once, at the grocery store, my Mom went up one of the aisles for something and left my YS and I fighting at the cart. When she returned, we had somehow managed to tip it over and everything in the cart was now on the floor. She wasn't even gone that long. I don't know how she managed to get through the rest of that shopping trip, but I can imagine the embarrassment that she felt.
