Who wants to help me decorate/furnish/stock my brand new abode that I'll be moving into come Saturday?
I own zero furniture/household items aside from my bed and possibly some bakeware if I can get it back from J. New roommate will furnish the living area, but the kitchen, my room, and my bathroom are all up to me. I don't have a ton of money to spend, so my main criteria is low price.
I'm going to need pretty much everything for the kitchen; Dinnerware, flatware, cookware, glassware, utensils, small appliances, towels/potholders etc. I'm leaning toward a red/white/black theme, and I prefer stainless cookware, but beggars can't be choosers so I'm open to anything cheapish really.
For my bathroom I was thinking of plum and charcoal colors, and I'm going to need everything for that including shower curtain/liner, towels/washcloths/hand towels/bath mat, trash can, and the usual containers/holdes/dispensers etc.
As for my bedroom, I'm thinking maybe lime and black. I'm probably going to look for the larger furniture locally, like a dresser, desk, dining table/chairs, and bookshelves; but I'll need curtains, linens, and some decor for the walls.
I've been looking for about a week now and I'm at the point where everything looks the same and its becoming overwhelming. Help me!
I think for cheap kitchen stuff your best bet is IKEA. Do you have one nearby? I think they have a lot of things available online as well.
For the bathroom, the containers/trash can can be IKEA. I found a great BBB bathmat that I ordered last week that would go great with plum and charcoal. I'll link it in an edit. Hand towels and the like can be found on the cheap at you local dollar tree, but I think for your regular use towels you should get something slightly better. I have some 20% coupons from BBB I would be happy to send your way, and Target also has great towels.
I'll link some stuff in here but I am on the case! Also maybe your SS can hook you up with some stuff Tis the season.
I do have 2 IKEAs fairly close by actually, buyt I've never personally bought anything there and for some reason it never even crossed my mind. Thanks!
When I moved out on a budget, I found a lot of great deals at closeout stores like Big Lots / Odd Lots / Job Lots - I think those kinds of stores are called different things in different areas. I remember finding a whole matching set of plates, bowls, and mugs for $7, and there was nothing wrong with them; no cracks or missing pieces.
Oh yes, there's a Big Lots around the corner from me. I'll definitely check them out.
our goodwill sucks I would look at Home Goods and Ross walmart has really cheap and plush bath towels
Ugh yeah it does, and the one in Moorpark is even worse. I plan on hitting up Ross and TJ Maxx since I've gotten some decent kitchen stuff at both of them before for cheap.
How did I forget about Walmart! I'll add it to my list.
