My cousin and his wife moved to the US about 6 years ago and she posts at least once a month on how she is so happy with the wonderful health system there and how her and her family's lives would be so awful if they lived here. Ugh. Our system is not perfect but it is free and not contingent on having a job. I have never felt helpless and always had access to good medical care.
I am not saying either system is awesome but it us ridiculous to post about all the things that could have went wrong if she lived here (so super hypothetical) based on a dramatized news story. I am sure I could find just as dramatic examples of people not getting the care they need in the US if I tried.
Probably more, considering how many people go uninsured in the US.
I have the opposite problem. A friend who moved from the US to Edinburgh, who now posts incessantly about how superior it is in every way to the US. It's making me feel patriotic, which ticks me off. lol.
In fairness to your friend, Scotland's healthcare is better than Canada and the US lol.
