Hi! Can I ask you a question as our resident expert?
I'm making mini cupcakes for a Saturday birthday party. How far in advance can I make and frost them and have them still taste okay? Buttercream frosting on some easy cake recipe still to be determined.
You can make and frost them two days before, but keep them in the microwave so they won't spoil or dry out. If it were me, I'd just do them the night before.

Really?
I do this all the time. We call the microwave "the breadbox" because we have so little counter/storage space, so we keep the bread and baked goods in it.
You can also make your cupcakes in advance and freeze them (put them on a cookie sheet in the freezer until they're frozen and then put them in a ziploc bag or something). The night before, make your frosting, pull them out of the freezer, and frost them (still frozen). Pop them in the microwave overnight and they'll thaw.
