SYTYCD 6/27 *Spoilers*

Ugh. I feel about Alexis as I did about Ryan, which is odd because she lost to Ryan last season. Anyway, it's the first live episode and I'm already tired of her. It's like they pick one dancer in the try-out phase to just push on viewers endlessly so they can have a "look how much you've improved" story.

I don't think there's anything special about her compared to people like Cyrus that they could say "I think you'll win this whole thing" that would make them pick her over someone else.

Am I alone in this? Anyone you're happy/sad to see go/stay?

Otherwise, I'm happy to see only four contemporary dancers in so far. Last year was contemporary overload.

I'm glad they've had some other genres too. How are they going to be handling results since there isn't a show?

I missed the first few minutes, but I don't think they've addressed the results change-up yet.

8 contemporary and only TWO hip hop? Well, three if you count martial arts guy. Still, I don't understand why they do nearly half contemporary instead of adding some tappers or Broadway. Or more of any of the others. I love contemporary, I'd just like to see more of a variety.

I love Cyrus. Like Alexis, he's someone they've pushed on viewers, but unlike Alexis he's actually an interesting and amazing dancer. Watching him I feel like I did watching Melanie's initial try-outs last year. If he can keep up, I think he could win.

There was a girl, I must have missed her final decision. I can't remember her name or style, but I remember liking her initial audition. She had an afro. Anyone know her name so I can youtube her?

My 2 tappers are gone,,,this is BS. Didnt they keep saying they didnt want the same old thing?

I'm overall happy with the cast, but I am upset that there isn't a true hip-hopper in the Top 20 this year. I would have loved to have seen the female crumper.

The reason there's always so many contemporary dancers is because the majority of contestants dance that style. I think they try to keep the ratios of the Top 20 similar to what they see in the auditions, but with some wiggle room for introducing different styles.

I'm really happy about the ballroom and ballet dancers. I'm on the fence about Cyrus. He's very likeable and talented at what he does, but I feel like he was given a huge pass by the judges. That makes me upset for the dancer he beat out.

Are the all-stars going to dance again this year? I need my Twitch fix.

Based on the initial performances, I really think Cyrus is going to struggle with choreographed routines. He was sticking out - and not for good reason.

Love the step guy...he seems to have a whole lot of personality! I liked belly dance girl too in the audition - missed seeing her last night. (sorry, I'm not familiar with any names yet).

I barely recognized Melanie when they showed her in the audience - I seriously thought it was someones Grandma.

I am glad there is no results show anymore...one night of my life back each week - HA.

I feel the same about Cyrus, he is great at what he does, but he wasn't so great at all the other stuff and they still pushed him through. I do not think he will last that long. I love the 2 ballet guys.

I feel so cliche saying that this is the most talented top 20, but I think it is. The first episode felt like a finale b/c the dances were so good.
I love Cyrus, but I think he'll struggle with the choreo. My favourite right now is the ballet girl.

I really like Janelle (the belly dancer) and Cole (the martial arts guy). I also really like the two Jazz girls for some reason.

I did not think that Cyrus should have made the top 20 because I don't think he does well in other styles. I also do not care for Alexa and I didn't like how much they focused on her.

Don't like alexis, but they're definitely pushing her on us. She was featured in I think all the group dances.

The ballroom dancers are really not that engaging, and not particularly good. One of the blonds might be ok, but I wished they had cut one of the other 2 to make room for one of the (ballet?) guys they cut at the end.

Rooting for the martial arts guy. He's local Plus I find him really interesting.
