We really didn't do anything to prepare. I created 2 budgets, one for during Mat leave at reduced pay and one for when I return to work including daycare. Once we knew we could comfortably support baby we ditched the birth control. It's worth noting that we had no consumer debt to begin with
Aside from finances, we took a couple of big trips with just us. We have now been TTC for 2.5 years so I am glad we didn't wait too much.

I didn't do anything to prepare. We save a lot more than we did before, but that's also partially bc we moved and I got a new job where I make a lot more than I did.
Before I got pregnant with my daughter we paid off our credit card and rolled our car loan into our mortgage, refinanced the mortgage and not only got lower payments but took 3 years off our mortgage! We tried to just "tidy up" our finances.

The only thing I did to prepare was start taking prenatals and now we save more. Also I was looking for another job and was willing to take a pay cut, but now I stopped. I would rather just bank money and focus on TTC, my career is not my life so I am okay with that.

We made a list of the top places we'd like to go and said we'd take one big trip a year until I turned 30. I'm 30 now and our list is longer than when we started, but we decided to try to still travel big even with kids.

We took a trip we had been hoping to make and waited until a point where even if I did get pregnant on the first try I'd most likely have moved to a shift that was more convenient for childcare by the time I delivered. I also have some chronic health issues so we waited until my doctors felt comfortable with us trying.
Since I had over a year of TTA while I was waiting for my doctors to give me a thumbs up, I had time to prepare. I quit smoking, stopped drinking caffeine and started PNV. We are in our 30s and married for almost 8 years, so our finances are as good as they are gonna get.
We did a big trip last May to the Meditteranean. After we got home, we decided to start trying. Other than that, we've paid off a ton of debt and that's about it.
We just started paying the equivalent of daycare payments towards our student loans in preparation for TTC in the spring next year. They should be just about paid off by the time we would need to put our kid in daycare. I will go off BC next winter (and use condoms for a month or 2 to see what my cycle is like.). When I go off BC, I will sign up for an additional disability policy and take prenatals. I'm impatient and wish we could start now, but I know this is best for our family.
There was a lot of conversations going back and forth last 7 years, but we figured we put a time frame on it. 3 years, we will either adopt or figure out something else.
So 3 years have to get our act together. Would like to pay off all our private SL's, have 20k in the bank just for kid expenses, and for time off during that time. My job does not allow for you to take PTO off during maternity leave-hence extra $ for that time off. We are expecting day care to be around 1500 a month, so paying off SL's probably be in our best interest.Finish small projects around the house, pay off car, go on crazy trips, live it up, etc.
That is just us though, its not one of those things I wanted to just be like "it will work out"..cause it doesnt work like that for us for anything else. We also expected to pay for all the baby items upfront, since we will not be having a shower of any kind.

We didn't do anything specific. Our timing was dictated by my age. Ideally we would have waited but I'm 38 (we met later in life) and the clock is ticking.
We had savings (notice I said had - we started building a house in the middle of TTC so it's been somewhat depleted) and really don't have a set $$ we want to have in the bank. We are both good with money so we'll be ok. But DH just got a promotion and raise so that helps too. :-)
