ETA we "prepared" by setting a wedding date (not that I think it's crucial to be married before having kids as DS was born before we got married but before we set out to TRY to get pregnant, we wanted to be married) and then started taking prenatals, read TCOYF, learned how to temp/chart and bought OPK's.

Nothing really, other than taking prenatals. We had to wait until I had my job for 12 months so I will be eligible for mat leave, but our finances were already in order.

We went on some big trips/vacations, put a little chunk of money in our saving and both had secure jobs. It took longer than expected to get everything off the "before baby" list. I now am taking prenatals and having loads of unprotected vaginal intercourse.

We took a big trip we had both wanted to take for years, paid off our debts and built up our savings. I also quit smoking (after 15 years!) and stopped taking certain medications.
