This is kind of fun. And even semi-old people related:
In the meantime, we’ve paired up makeup artists’ attempts to age actors with photos of the actors when they actually turned that age. Of course, makeup artists are trying to age the character, not the actor—but it’s still fun to see how the wrinkles, bloating, and balding compare.
It looked to me that most of the makeup wasn't all that accurate.
But it's funny that you posted this because my husband amd I were watching the new Dallas show and he thought it was weird because it seemed like he was watching the original actors with makeup on (to make them look older). For me, i just get upset seeing these folks aged.

At least w/ Bobby Ewing, I feel like he has a TON of make-up on to hide bad skin. There is something weird about it, and I don't fele like they are trying to make him look older- I think they are trying to hide something or make him more "tv attractive".
I agree they didn't do that great of a job. But especially in movies like BTF, Crispin Glover wasn't actually supposed to be that old as the Dad, but they wanted a more dramatic look, but 45 just doesn't look all that old.
They seemed to get the hairlines wrong most. My 30 men know where there hair is going, so that is pretty inexcusable--Shatner clearly had a widow's peak.
