Why do people say philly is flat?? Philly is NOT flat.
Anyway, my only goal was to start and finish without reinjuring myself. So thats done. I came in just over 4:00 (wouldve broken four if i didnt stop to pee), so thats fine, i had no intention of a pr. Now im eating a cheesesteak. Yum.
Hope everyone running philly today had a good race. Because for me, that hurt, and sucked. A lot.
Lol, I'm probably one of those who said Philly is flat. For some reason the part out to Maneunk seemed downhill both ways to me. Sorry you hurt, but great time!!

Ive heard it from lots of people, you might just be one of the many
Going out felt downhill, i agree, i was afraid of the uphill back while i was running out, but it was the downhill back that hurt so much. My hamstrings didnt like the downhill!

I have a blister on my second toe and my big toes are throbbing but there is just a general soreness too. I know i will lose my big toe nails soon. I went up a whole size in shoes so not sure what is wrong.
i be typing from me phone. typos and grammer dont count.

I wasn't a fan of the race either:( I cursed at every hill.

Im sorry they were so unexpected. Everything else about it i liked lol

Sounds like there was a decent amount of downhill? Even with the right shoes, the downhills can still get you.
Yep, lots of both. The rolling hills wouldnt have been bad, if it wasnt for the big hills in the middle. At the end, for me, even the downhills hurt. I wasny losing speed going up hill, imwas just slow e whole time lol
Oh and clseale im going back and forth about dropping to the half at celebration and feeling the need for redemption on a flat course and wanting to do the full lol
Congratulations on completing! That has to be an amazing feeling, despite the initial want to collapse afterwards.
Also, Philly is definitely not flat! I live in East Falls and just the hills between Kelly Drive and Henry Avenue kill me. I couldn't imagine running uphill after already running almost 20 miles.

Awesome job!!
Thanks! And yes, it was hilly there too! I think the hills starting in the middle, near drexel, really did me in at the end. I just wasnt expecting it.
Overall though, it was a nice race. Ive always liked philly, and this was a really nice way to see the whole city!
Im a little better. This morning i said to mh "look, im walking down the stairs normally!" and he responded with "no, youre definitely not doing that normally" lol
So im sore, but better. Ive been doing little walking laps around my living room, which is helping. Getting off the couch still hurts, but i can do it without wanting to scream. Im going to attempt to run out to the supermarket later (edit: not literally run lol). Thats going to be funny (and not just because i smell like biofreeze).
Also, the bottom of my left foot, sort of near the heel, hurts, and thats new. And im really bloated and puffy today. I thought i did a good job of staying hydrated and drinking a ton after. But today ill make sure i get a ton of water.

Haha. Doesn't this get us all? The good news is that you're registered and you have a bit of time to decide whether you want redemption or just a kick ass half. I think either should be possible on that course.

Its such a funny thing.
Meanwhile, ill decide after a couple of weeks of recovery. At this point i think the 5 miler im supposed to do on thanskgiving will be a challenge, but ats because i cant imagine feeling normal right now lol
