I think there's a lot of misunderstanding. Either people being skeptical of the demographics of the town profiled in the article, or people saying, "well, when you vote for the party who says they want to cut entitlements, this is what you get," when they don't mean to be preachy, just realistic, but coming off as elitist.
Seriously, 90%+ of the posts are about whether or not the rural poor votes for their own self interest, whether or not they should, and who they think should blame for their cut in SNAP benefits.
