I finished my first half marathon on Sunday-the St. Pete Women's Half. I feel better today, but still feel like I got hit by a truck....full of bricks.
We got to the race around 6:15. I got in line for the porta potties and then stretched a little before making my way to my corral for the 7:00 start. I met up with a friend that dropped from the half to the 5k and we started the race off together. The weather was overcast and not too hot (about 68). I felt really great for the first 8 miles or so (with the exception of some chaffing on my thighs, but luckily the hubby had some body glide at mile 6 so I could reapply). From 8-10 I started to feel a little sore in my legs and my right hip flexor was starting to bother me. It didn't help that mile 9-12 was soooo boring. It was through a business district and there was hardly any crowd support. The hubby was awesome, he had the scooter, so was able to get around easier and see me at a bunch of places with signs and encouragement. Around 10, I really started hurting and at one point thought my left leg was going to just stop working. But, I pushed on and finished in 2:05:43!
