I can't wait for green bean casserole! I know there are all kinds of new gourmet or healthy versions now but I like the traditional trashy version for Thanksgiving.
I am also looking forward to pumpkin pie. I would kill for a slice right now.
Nothing? We ordered from a new place this year and none of the sides are really exciting to me. L is making some fresh veggies, but they are the same ones we eat for dinner (sauteed green beans and roasted brussel sprouts.) Nothing even exciting for dessert since L and the ILs have low carb cheesecake (blech) and the boys requested pumpkin pie (double blech.)

I LOVE GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE. My wife hates it but I don't care! I will make (and EAT) the entire batch all by myself if I have to because I love it so much and MUST have it at Thanksgiving. I could probably eat nothing but green bean casserole for Thanksgiving dinner and be happy.
Okay, maybe that's a little bit of a stretch since Thanksgiving is pretty much my favorite meal of the year, but still.
For dessert I like pumpkin pie but I'm in love with pecan pie, which isn't necessarily Thanksgiving but I usually like to have it then. This year I'm going to try to make a chocolate bourbon pecan pie.
My dad's stuffing is also on my mind. Unfortunately the desserts on T-day are going to be disappointing (no pumkin or pecan pie!!) but my mom told me she'd make both pies for me for later in the weekend. Haha, weekend full of eating here we come. That gestational Diabetes test is not until December, right...

I want in on some of this green bean casserole ladies! It's not something my family makes and we are going to my brother's so we'll be eating whatever they are serving. I am bringing rolls and pecan pie.
I look forward to homemade cranberry sauce with the turkey. And pie, a bit of both pumpkin and pecan.
Confession: I've never tried green bean casserole.
::ducks and runs::
GASP! You are not a real AMURICAN!
::Sits down with duchess and Kari.::
I was always under the impression that green bean casserole was a Midwestern thing. So I'm not shocked by CT's confession. But I cannot explain Duchess and Kari's knowledge!
Kershnic - we always had it growing up,even for Rosh Hashanah. I didn't know it was regional! I just know I have to have it. I even tweak the recipe to get the taste perfect.

Duchess1 and bluedaisyus I am so happy to say that I got to enjoy green bean casserole too! It must be a favorite of my brother's inlaws as it was on the table. Yay! And I thought of both of you enjoying yours while I ate it. Blue, how did the chocolate bourbon pecan pie turn out? I saw a recipe for one but wasn't brave enough to try it with my family and SIL's family I don't know very well.
