Does anyone watch this show? I love it. It is smart, funny and crude. Even my husband loves it and he is hard to please when it comes to female centered comedies. Lena Dunham is a great writer!
I love it although sometimes it makes me cringe and wonder did I act like that- and I'm pretty sure I did- lol.
I was reading a review of each episode on HuffPo and was shocked at what they were saying. They were writing that they thought the episodes were sad and not realistic. I think they are forgetting that Hannah and friends are in their early 20's, totally self centered and a bit naive. Even Jessa who is more "experienced" shows moments of naivety. I enjoy the hell out of the show. I think it is smart, funny, edgy and crosses over ages and sexes.
I read the forums on the Girls website and people seem to hate it -- I don't get the hate. I absolutely love it.
I will have to check out this forum because I absolutely cannot stand this show. Lena Dunham bugs the shit out of me in every possibie way. I also hated her movie Tiny Furniture, and everyone else loved that, so I realize that I'm in the minority. I really hoped the show would be better because Judd Apatow is involved, but no, still hate.
I watched a few episodes while I was unemployed and had the time to kill but I really thought it was just "eh". I'm back to work so I had to seriously cut back on my shows and didn't have to think twice about cutting this one out. I found Leah Dunham to be pretty annoying.
Not a fan. I watched a few episodes and didn't get the big deal. Maybe I'm too far removed from that part of my life to enjoy this show.
I'm 33, and think that the show is probably funnier to me than it would have been in my 20's. I think the stuff that happens in the show is funnier when looking at it as somone with a little more experience.

OP - I'm enjoying the show a lot!
I feel the same. I can watch something and think "oh yes, that is exactly what happens..." When Hannah's OB said "you couldn't pay me to be 24 again" I almost clapped!
I'm still watching and still on the fence about it. I want to like it, but the characters drive me batty! I don't think it will be cancelled, I think I read that it was already picked up for a second season.

Yeah, this is me too. I just want to kidnap Charlie and find him an awesome girlfriend, because he's the only one I don't want to smack. Well, Shoshanna is ok, but she gets like 30 seconds of airtime. But Jessa is the worst; she is seriously one of the most annoying characters on tv right now.
Also, someone on another message board said Hannah's jerky boyfriend reminded them of a grown-up Millhouse, and I can't unsee it.

Totally agree. Especially after this weeks episode. I just sat there and thought "What is redeeming about ANY of these girls?" (well, at least Hannah, Jessa and Marnie).

I still see Shoshanna as the serious, artsy lesbian in Mad Men so seeing her as a bubbly, virgin ditz is challenging for me.

It's sad to me that someone on their early 20's who lives in NYC.. A huge multicultural city has only white friends. That's what people are talking about when they say the show isn't very realistic.
I've heard Lena Dunham speak on NPR. She said she wrote the show from her experience. She's from la. Another multicultural epicenter. She had no idea until it was pointed out to her the show was like this. I think she is incredibly sheltered and needs more experienced writers around her.
I dunno...I think that's why I can relate to the show so much. I can't tell you how many people I know who I am their only black friend. And I'm only their friend because I'm so white...

I don't even care that her closest friends are white, take a look around their environment and tell me if you see any brown faces? No? How the hell can that be in NYC?!
This has also been commented on.. The only " brown" faces are the help!
