I'm in a wedding (outdoor, ugh!) July 7th in Houston, so my girlfriends and I took off Thurs and Fri and I'll be in TX Tues-Sun. With the heat and flight prices, we're ditching our H's and making it a girls trip. I can't wait!

I'm still debating using a vacation day to cover Thursday. I normally have Fridays off. I have so few vacation days left to use this year though.

I'm nannying through the summer and thought that I would. I got very lucky, though, and that is when the family will be on vacation so I have that week and the week after off. Yay!

I wish people would stop complaining about it. As I mentioned on another board, some people don't even get the day off. Some people are working overtime so that people can get that day off.

I'm working every day but Wednesday. There are rumors that our office might close for one extra day, but honestly I don't need it. My husband and friends all have to work so I'd just sit home alone all day.

A ton of people in my office are taking off before or after, so it will be a quiet and slow week. Then I'm on vacation the week after. Works for me!

We are closed Wednesday and I took Thurs and Fri as vacation.

I took Tues-Friday off. I have to burn some vacation time as I'm way over our limit at work. We're going to middle of nowhere, hot as hell Nebraska to visit family. woot. woot. The kicker is, it was my idea.

I agree, is it really that big of a deal? (Ha, says the girl who's taking a 5-day wknd).

What's going to be worse is that Christmas is on a Tuesday this year; which means we'll have to travel the day of to get back for work on Wed. But at least I'll be lucky enough to have Mon and Tues off then.

We are closed Weds only but I took off thurs, fri, and also Monday since we have a Sunday night wedding out of town. We are going to my moms beach house for a few night I am excited!

:-( Such a lame day for it to fall on. I think we're just going to stay home (we live hours from any family). Typically we drive to my hometown to watch fireworks, bbq, etc. And I'm not taking any time off before or after the Fourth.

I didn't realize people would get annoyed by other people wishing the 4th wasn't on a Wednesday! Interesting.... I actually don't even really care, the reason it sucks for me is because I work on a military base, and almost every body will have weds, thursday and friday off (besides us), so it will make for a VERY very slow thursday and friday! I am sure we will have almost nothing to do.

And yes, I'm complaining. We don't see our family very often since they live across the state and the Fourth is usually one of the times we come home. Guess we'll just have to make up for it by going to see them another weekend.

Some of my CWs are taking the 3rd and 5th off...which I don't really get...but whatever.

I'm glad to have a day off (we aren't allowed to come in at all that day, company rules) IDC what day it is.

I have to work, and I'm pretty sure DH does as well. *shrugs*. I don't think I've ever not worked on the 4th of July, unless it fell on a weekend when I already have the day off.

We're only closed on the 4th. Technically I could take the other days if I wanted to, but I'll be coming into work. Don't really have anything going on that makes it worth a day off.

Now, I should have taken today off since my friends are currently on the way here, but my assistant is down at the beach, so I sucked it up. Phones are ringing off the hook, so I really can't get anything done. I'm just playing around and answering phones at this point. Sucks b/c I really need to be reviewing resumes, but I can't focus!

I work for local govt so we get all federal holidays off. I could take Thurs & Fri off but I'm not going to.

Before kids I hated when it would fall T-Th. That meant I couldn't get rip-roaring drunk and still feel ok the next day when I went into work

I'm working on the 4th, unless all 3 of my clients cancel their sessions..which is a possibility, but I won't know until the day before. Since taking this job I do not get excited about holidays, we only get Thanksgiving and Christmas Day off. That's it. Boo.

Thank you for this. I have to work on Wednesday. I work all holidays (except Christmas) and I never get a long weekend for the holiday. It drives me a bit insane that people are complaining that they either have to use their PTO or just have one day off in the middle of the week :@

DH works on the 4th so others can take it off. Thankfully it's triple time for him, but he's never worked the 4th so I'm on my own with the kids. He has to work most holidays. and now I have to cover Thursday and Friday because my boss decided she doesn't want to work.
