DH was really sick with a bad cold last week - it actually had him down on the sofa for 3 days which is very rare for him. He is the type that will only let himself be sick a day and then he's back up. I of course come down with the same thing this week. Ugh.
I have the list of approved drugs from my ob, but I am still trying to minimize the amount of otc drugs I am taking. Anyone else get sick while pg and want to offer some advice/recommendations, or just commiserate?
I used the neti pot, saline nasal rinse, drank lots of fluids and rode it out. If I got a sinus headache I took tylenol. I know you can take other meds, but for whatever reason I didn't feel comfortable. The cold ended up going away within a couple days. Stay home and rest if you can too.
I stayed home yesterday, but needed to come into the office for a bit today. I doubt I will make it much past noon though.
I've been trying to drink fluids, but at times it is tough as I alternate between not being able to breathe and a sore throat. Fun times. I've gone through over 2 boxes of puffs plus in 2 days and my poor nose is so sore. I really hope this runs the same path for me as it did for DH and I will start getting better in a day or two.
I just got over one. I didn't take anything for it, just drank lots of water and rested. And drank lots of hot tea (holding the steamy cup under my nose felt amazing). I felt better after a couple of days but am still sporting some awesome chapped skin around my nose from blowing it so much. :/

I had a horrible cough a few weeks ago that wouldn't go away so I asked my doctor if I could take anything for it. She suggested Robitussin DM. I only took it about 3-4 times and always took half a dose.
For the head cold, just rest and lots of water. I tried drinking hot water with lemon but it gave me horrible heartburn. I hope you feel better soon!
Yes, and I stuck with tea, saline nasal spray, and a few doses of Tylenol, oh and I gargled with warm salt water. It was pretty miserable! I hope you feel better soon!
I had a pretty bad cold 2 months ago. I used the saline solution for my nose, and drank a lot of tea. I also drank emergen-C every day while I was sick to get lots of vitamin C.
My midwife suggested Robitussin DM, Tylenol and Sudafed. I also drank a lot of tea and some Emergen-C. I was miserable for about two weeks and had to take off work two days in a row, which I've never done in the 9 years I've worked for my company.
I had one last month and the OB's office suggested Tylenol Cold, steamy showers and Robitussin DM. I also wanted to minimize the drugs while PG, so I only took the Tylenol Cold a few nights to help me sleep and it was well worth it.
I had one that lasted 6 weeks. I'm finally feeling better now. Caffeine, honey, a humidifier and trying to sleep were my only medications. Clearly that didn't work.
I have had one for like 10 days now. I seem to finally be getting better, but very slowly. I am weird and don't like to take meds unless I have to when PG, so I have just used nasal spray, cough drops, and lots of water. Hope you feel better!

I do right now started Sunday with a headache, aches and sore throat and Tuesday my nose faucet turned on. I am home from work today because the nose and coughing has ramped up- I am hoping it is in it's way out and that extra sleep today helps.
I've just been drinking a lot of water and using cough drops. I don't have any approved decongestants and live too far from the store that it is a pain to go for a special trip.
i got a BFP on a tuesday and started being stuffy/runny nose that weekend. it's held on since then and is just going away now 2 weeks later. mucinex is on my approved list so i took that. so is tylenol PM and last night i finally took one of those to get a good night's sleep and i feel so much better today. i think it's finally on it's way out!
