i think my issue is the color variation depending on which way the fiber is brushed. our couch looks like chocolate swirls most of the time because there is such a contrast. also, i hate the butt imprints from pants.
We have a few of the pieces from this line - the love seat and oversized chair from Ashley and I think they're cheap looking and feeling. We bought them new because of some super sale and needed something in the den. I'm counting the days when I can put them on craigslist and get something else in that room. I'm so glad DH talked me into leather rather than microfiber in our main living room.
ETA - we don't have kids yet and the only time we sit on these is during Christmas opening presents so the cream color still looks like new, now 4 years later. (our dog did randomly decide to jump up there one time after laying in the dirt outside and it wiped right off)
No I don't think it looks cheap. There are certainly cheap sofas out there that are microfiber, but I don't think it necessarily has to look cheap.
We have a sofa from C&B in microfiber in our main living area. It's certainly not a formal sofa, and I don't think that a casual material like microfiber would be right for a sofa in a formal living room. But for a well-used rec room or den, I think it's a great choice if you look for one with quality lines and solid construction.
Ours looks like new despite my 5 and 1 year olds. Our old couch was slipcovered and, although the slipcovers were nice because we could wash off whatever got on it - I hate the slipcover look. I always think it looks unkempt. I guess what I'm saying is that I think this microfiber couch looks much better than the slipcovered couch... and with kids, the microfiber looks much better (cleaner and newer) than any other material would look.
In my formal living room ( If I ever get to buy furniture lol), I won't be getting microfiber, but only because I don't htink it's a very formal fabric. Does that make any sense?

I have a microfiber couch and so does my dad. Mine has clean lines and looks pretty nice (don't tell me if you disagree! Raining on my parade!) but my dad has the muppet couches and they look cheap.
Just like how you can go and drop $2,000 on a custom couch from a really nice furniture company but if you pick the wrong fabric (like a hunter green floral print?), it looks cheap and crappy.

I don't think it looks cheap. We have a sofa and a recliner from lazboy that we've had for about five years or more and they both still look really nice. Maybe it depends on brand or something, but I think ours are nice.
