I got DH a pair of those LL Bean Wicked Good slippers 2 or 3 years ago for Christmas. They're $70 slippers. He loves them, and he's actually worn away the shearling on the inside, and the soles are now coming apart at the seams. LL Bean has that guaranteed, period thing. Does what I've described sound like normal wear and tear or should I have the company replace them under the guarantee? I can't decide. I feel so cheap and grabby thinking about filing under the guarantee, but my $10 slippers from TJ Maxx last longer than 3 years. I'm really not clear on what constitutes normal wear and tear for men's slippers LOL. How long do slippers last for your husbands?
My husband goes through his every year or so but he gets the cheapy kind. I would call LLBean and see what they say. They have notoriously generous policies when it comes to their guarantees.
I've talked to them and they'll do it - they don't question customers. She said "if you feel they should have lasted longer." I just don't want to be that tacky person sending in a pair of slippers if slippers only normally last for 2 years, KWIM? haha

My uggs are probably 3 years old and still look new so I think you are fine sending in them in but I agree if the next pair wear out then I would buy another brand.
I wouldn't feel bad about asking once but I wouldn't expect a lifetime guarantee on slippers.
For reference, I think I've had my Ugg slippers since...2008-ish, and just last winter I noticed that the shearling was wearing away on the backs. They're definitely still sturdy, but 4 - 4.5 years without the shearling wearing away, and the seams and structural integrity of the slipper itself is still fine.
I'd expect the shearling to be worn pretty good after 2-3 years if lots of use. But the sole coming I stitched would make me return it- that's not normal wear and tear.
We replace our LLBean slippers every 2 years (my grandmother gets them for us for Christmas). I don't expect the shearling to hold up to more than 2 years of daily wear. I've never had a pair come unstitched at the soles, though, and for that reason I think it's ok if you want to return them.

I've had the same pair of Wal-Mart slippers for like 5 years, but I don't wear them year round and usually forget where I put them so I don't even wear them consistently all winter. So that alone would make me return them for the stitching.
