Watched it and loved it! I loved Aaron Sorkin's The West Wing and this is starting out even better. May have buy it on iTunes since we don't get HBO, I watched the first EPisode on there free.
I'm loving McKinsey and her dynamic with Will (the you're mine from 8-9 spiel was hilarious) I love Maggie and she so reminds me of a character on TWW that was a favorite of mine the whole series.
My only issue is I see sooo many similarities to TWW (not a bad thing) and I have to remind myself that that probably won't continue or it will go a different way.
I don't have HBO, but I plan to take advantage of my parents' HBO to catch up. Glad ot hear you girls like it. But, I wonder why the critics are panning it so much!?!?
I believe the first episode is on HBO's site if anybody wants to watch it, tomorrow is #2. I never watched TWW so I can't compare. I'm gonna have to go see what the critics are saying now, I wonder what they wouldn't like about it.
I watched the 1st episode on Itunes, it was free. I liked it but then again I am a big Aaron Sorkin fan. I don't have HBO so I hope I can keep getting it on Itunes.

I liked the first episode. I thought it was good. I thought it was pretty typical Sorkin stuff. I guess because it's a show about the media, it might touch a bit too close to those in the media reviewing it. I found this article from the LA Times about the criticism:
The only TV critic I follow didn't like it because since it's set in the past, the show's allowed to make its characters smarter than actual newspeople were when all the events were actually happening. I think he also said that the female lead character wasn't very strong or something like that.
1) since they apparently plan to use real events it has to be set in the past so that really doesn't bother me.
2) I think Mckinzey is plenty strong, just not stupid she knew Will had her over a barrel so she did the only thing she could which was try to take care of her people. Pretty smart to me. Once she had the power over him she made her point that very well that she wasn't a pushover I thought.
Anyway I'm very interested to see where this show goes. :-)
I should've mentioned - the critic has seen 4 episodes of the show and based his opinions on that. I think he did say that the pilot was the best of the 4, so I don't know.

When I was watching one of the interviews or behind the scenes kinda things they even admitted that they were doing this. They pointed out that its real easy to know these things after the fact but that they weren't actually known at the time.
We watched the first two episodes yesterday and I really liked it. I can understand why critics wouldn't like it re: superior knowledge of past events but it's a TV show, not real life, and that helped make it more entertaining. I didn't watch TWW so I can't compare it but I was impressed and now considering keeping HBO (we have it as a free promo now until the end of the month).

I liked the beginning and end of the 1st episode, but the 2nd was pretty sucky all around. I loved TWW, but this comes across as so preachy as to be unenjoyable. Plus, that whole blackberry thing, so completely predictable. And pathetic.

You should try to get there log in for HBO to Go. We don't have cable but my mom has the HBO Go set up. We can watch on our phones, laptop and on an Xbox app.
I liked the first episode. The 2nd one was kind of eh. I'm not a huge fan of taking old news events and literally repeating them for the show. I'm hoping the 3rd episode will get me back into it.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I want so badly to like it. The pilot was enjoyable, although I felt like in several scenes I could have swapped out the characters for TWW characters and seen the same dialogue. But episode 2 was preachy and predictable.
First episode was great, second was so-so...I'll keep watching. I was not a watcher of West Wing so I can't make comparisons there, but I've only heard good things so I'm hoping this show is good too.
