Her calves are on the small side, and I think her arms might be, but just a little bit. They're on scale with her calves, but not her hips and thighs. I think. Could be completely wrong

I think it has a nice style to it, even with the proportions a bit off.
I totally get what you mean about needing something in front of you to draw from. I'm the same way. I can do pretty well if I'm drawing an object that I'm looking at, or working from an inspiration picture. But if you tell me to just draw something from scratch, it's crap.
I found the inspiration for this one on Google then sketched it by hand. That's definitely one thing I have to work on.. I've never been able to just sketch from my mind, I always have to look at something.
I can't do anything from scratch either. I'm great with choosing colors, and if I have something to draw from it's decent, but I just don't have that whole inspiration thing.
Lol this is actually one of the reasons why I want to get into quilting and why I did origami for a while. The patterns are already there for you
I agree with chesh. I think it looks great, and I totally couldn't draw something without having it in front of me. Honestly, who am I kidding, even if it was in front of me, it would suck, BUT it would look better than if I just free handed it with no model.
