Remember my coworker who told me that she didn't understand how / why I bothered to cook for one person because it was "beyond depressing"? And that it's a waste of time to cook if there is nobody else to appreciate it? Well today she very helpfully told me that it was "so cute" that I cook for myself and that she herself has "found her purpose as a wife" by cooking dinner for her "hubby" every night. She has been married for about 3 months. She also hasn't let him see her without makeup yet and gets up before him every morning so she can "put on her face" before he wakes up.
I believe she was cooking spaghetti tonight. Here's what I made (not that there is anything wrong with spaghetti!)
Attachment Deleted Steak, Brussels sprouts, and mashed sweet potatoes. The other half will be lunch tomorrow. Aren't I cute?
Co-worker is an asshole. And by asshole, I mean that she has an outside sense of control vs. an inside sense of control. What I mean by THAT is that she seeks validation from outside herself by others, rather than internally, by herself.
Not that there is anything wrong with that - until she starts crapping all over your very grounded and healthy center of self.
Too bad, she would probably be a better partner if she delighted in herself more and valued her own opinion as much as others.
My dinner was delicious! The only problem was I had to fight off my 17-year-old cancer-stricken cat who desperately wanted steak. Don't worry - she got some.
Figuring out how to cook steak without a grill has been a huge development for me - thanks Alton Brown!
I do find cooking for one to be a lot of work. That's because I'm lazy and not a fantastic chef.
Back when I was in counseling I learned its important to "self nurture" and do things "just" for you.
Basically, she sounds young and clueless. Lol.
I don't enjoy cooking either, but I like eating actual non-processed food so I have mastered a few basic recipes that I repeat over and over. Make it for dinner, eat the rest for lunch. What I really hate is having to cook and clean up too.

Wait, so she has been with him since high school and he's never seen her without makeup?? That is insane.
Personally I find cooking for two rather depressing. I guess I'm still searching for my purpose as a wife since I only cook for my "hubby" about once a week. Or less. lol
I love cooking for myself. I cooked dinner almost every night when I lived alone. I love doing it now when DH is away because I get to experiment with new recipes and eat stuff he doesn't like.
