Because I totally forgot/didn't really have time on Monday. But interview season is drawing to a close! I only have 3 to go, and thank god only one of those requires flying. I'm so tired of this. Anyway!
What's your marathon?
Any major concerns at the moment regarding the distance, your pace, time for runs, or anything else related to training?
Has the cold weather lately affected your training, for better or for worse?
And last but not least, because I really want to just drink for a week straight right now, what is your most favorite alcoholic beverage? Or non-alcoholic treat, if you aren't a drinker?
Any major concerns at the moment regarding the distance, your pace, time for runs, or anything else related to training? Just trying to stay motivated- lots going to as we are thinking about selling our house- randomly.
Has the cold weather lately affected your training, for better or for worse? It's SO hard to get out of bed and go run!
And last but not least, because I really want to just drink for a week straight right now, what is your most favorite alcoholic beverage? Or non-alcoholic treat, if you aren't a drinker? Just had Southern Tier 2Xmas- it was awesome.
What's your marathon? Town of Celebration Marathon 1/26/14
Any major concerns at the moment regarding the distance, your pace, time for runs, or anything else related to training? I already put this in training Tuesday, but what the hell, it fits here too. Not a major concern, just small doubts. I was a bit disheartened last week by the effort it took to do the final 3 of my 18 miler at GMP. That's normal though, right? GMP miles during training feel more difficult than they do on race day, yes? I remember from previous cycles thinking, "This pace feels OK, but at this effort, I'm not holding it for 26.2 miles"...and then I did. lol
Part of the problem is that I'm still having a difficult time finding that pace, and I'm doing them a tad (like 5-10 sec) too fast. Also, the last half of last week I had 12 on Wed, 9 Friday evening, then the 18 miler Sat morning (about 12 hrs between the F & S run). I know I'm running on tired legs, so I should probably be impressed with the fact that my legs felt as good as they did, and didn't feel like lead. You'd think I'd never done this before. lol I just need a "there, there, this is normal" head pat, or a "pssshhh, you're crazy, the final 3 of your 18 shouldn't have felt that hard, you suck" advice.
I'm hoping my 15 w/12 a GMP this weekend boosts my confidence a bit. Sorry this was long.
Has the cold weather lately affected your training, for better or for worse? Haha! No. My 18 miler last week (and perhaps this was also part of the problem), was done in mid-70s and 90+% humidity. W.T.F?? It's in the 60s right now, and it should be in the 50s when I start my run this weekend. I welcome some cooler weather, but maybe mother nature is helping me out in case it's warmer on race day.
And last but not least, because I really want to just drink for a week straight right now, what is your most favorite alcoholic beverage? Or non-alcoholic treat, if you aren't a drinker? I can't pick just one!! This time of year especially, I love really bold red wines. The bigger, the better. I'm definitely a beer girl, and for that, my favorite is always an IPA. The hoppier the better. For mixed drinks, I always choose vodka. I like tart &/or herb-y vs sweet. I make an awesome grapefruit basil martini!
Any major concerns at the moment regarding the distance, your pace, time for runs, or anything else related to training? Recovering from stomach bugs and colds and various aches. I am nervous about getting my training in this cycle, but if all else fails I have the treadmill.
Has the cold weather lately affected your training, for better or for worse? They plow the roads in my new neighborhood. it's brilliant! Cold weather is no big deal when you have plowed roads!
And last but not least, because I really want to just drink for a week straight right now, what is your most favorite alcoholic beverage? Or non-alcoholic treat, if you aren't a drinker? Irish Coffee because it mixes my favorite things. Booze and coffee. I'm also a huge fan of sangria, white and red. And wine, just red.

I think this is normal for a Pfitz plan. I have maybe one goal pace run a cycle that doesn't suck, hah! I try to run a race or two to boost my confidence since I seem to do much better with adrenaline thrown in. I think it sounds like you are right on track, esp. with the majority of the weekly mileage being within a few days of each other.

Thanks! This makes me feel better. lol I've been hitting all of the runs, so I wasn't too bent out of shape over it, just little creeps of doubt. I think this weekend will be better, and like you mentioned, I think my half on the 29th will help. If I can see that I've gotten even just a minute or two faster through Pfitz, since RnR Savannah, I think that will give me the confidence boost I need to not hold back. 10 w/speed work tonight, followed by 12 tomorrow! Damn him!!

What's your marathon? 50k Trail run March 16th. I'll be training with a modified Hansons Marathon Method.
Any major concerns at the moment regarding the distance, your pace, time for runs, or anything else related to training? My legs and back have still been pretty tight/sore but I also haven't been stretching and foam rolling as much. I have back to back 1/2's this weekend so I am sure that'll help too
Has the cold weather lately affected your training, for better or for worse? It's been records high here so I have been going a lot slower than I would like. Race on Sat starts at 9am too Ugh it's going to be so hot!
And last but not least, because I really want to just drink for a week straight right now, what is your most favorite alcoholic beverage? Or non-alcoholic treat, if you aren't a drinker? I have been drinking a lot of strongbow lately.

I love strongbow! It's so much better on tap but I haven't been able to find it anywhere around here.
Any major concerns at the moment regarding the distance, your pace, time for runs, or anything else related to training? I'm having mixed feelings right now. Obviously I'm super pumped about my marathon after this weekend, and trying to really attack these last few weeks of heavy training. I've also been feeling really stressed out about getting everything else done lately, so I'm not going to be upset when I don't have to plan everything around my hours of running. Except I probably will actually be upset or depressed because it's going to be really weird to go back to maintenance mileage.
Has the cold weather lately affected your training, for better or for worse? It's been great for me. Temps in the 30s for my race but mostly in the 40s and 50s lately, which I think is absolutely perfect running weather. I think it's really helped me to capitalize on my summer training in the heat.
And last but not least, because I really want to just drink for a week straight right now, what is your most favorite alcoholic beverage? Or non-alcoholic treat, if you aren't a drinker? All of them? It kind of depends on what I'm in the mood for. I love a good cider, but a lot of them are too sweet for me. Also a big fan of margaritas and I've been on a white wine kick lately, which is pretty random.
Marathon: Colorado Marathon, May 4 (redemption day)
Concerns: um... I've run once in the last month.
Cold weather: see above. I will start next week, so I hope the ice melts by then.
On app, can't remember the fourth thing: so, random. I'm walking on the treadmill as high as it will incline as my workout right now. I've had two super busy days and I need a run. This will have to do.
runaways Try strongbow. It's a cider but not very sweet and has a LOT less sugar than the angry orchards and other ciders.
Oh I thought you saw my post above! I love strongbow...I started drinking it when I was living in England and it's so good. I also recently discovered the shock top seasonal honeycrisp apple beer, which isn't a cider really but is pretty delicious.
What's your marathon? Whidbey Island, April 13. I'm so excited to be training for something!
Any major concerns at the moment regarding the distance, your pace, time for runs, or anything else related to training?my first marathon time was atrocious! Running one day a week will not bode well for anyone! Don't laugh but it was 5:29! Lol! I would love to go 4 hours, but that is a 9:09 pace and right now I'm nowhere close. My plan is to start at a comfortable, doable pace, and drop that down about 5 seconds per mile every week, getting as closer to a faster pace. I'm ok with that! Running is not my strength!
Has the cold weather lately affected your training, for better or for worse? I just stared officially training yesterday! Br running in the cold was no big deal, even at 25 (pretty cold for this Seattle girl!)
And last but not least, because I really want to just drink for a week straight right now, what is your most favorite alcoholic beverage? Or non-alcoholic treat, if you aren't a drinker? During ironman training I might have had two drinks. I don't drink much, after my race was over, dh and I went to happy hour at least once a week. So if I'm not training, two drinks a week maybe? During training, very sporadically. I love mojitos!
Major concerns - It was tough to get in all my runs this week. I got them all in but with holidays parties, get togethers, etc it was tough. And not a major concern yet, but I have only had to run 2 miles at mp. I know it's going up from there and with tired legs I know it will be hard. My heart rate goes up just thinking about future runs.
Cold weather issues - The cold weather hasn't been too bad. We have had a lot of rain though and our TM is next to our bedroom so DH doesn't want me on it so early. So I have had a lot of runs in the rain b/c I am too lazy to drive to the gym.
