I assume you already paid the bill by the time the refund was applied? You could call your bank and see if they accept credit cards for foreign fund. Is there any reason you cant just use the card for what you need instead of getting cash, or are you concerned about the foreign transaction fee?

Ya it's paid. I could just leave it as a credit, but I'd rather have the cash put aside for something specific.
I try to save up money for when I go see BF so that I don't have to spend huge amounts all at once.
That's why I think buying GBP would be ideal. I'll have it for when I go and won't have to worry about it. I'll ask the bank if that's a possibility.

I'd find out what the CC's foreign transaction fee (if any) are, vs any fees for buying GBP. Do you use this card often? If not, you could almost treat this like a debit card in a sense, where you have a set amount that you know you can use while visiting your BF (first determining the exchange rate, of course). l
