For everyone that says they need a pad too for heavy days.... Do super tampons not work during heavy days?!
My periods are seriously like Niagara falls. On my heaviest days I can go through a SUPER-PLUS tampon in an hour, and I don't always have the time every hour to run off and change it. So sometimes I'll keep an ultra thin pad on as backup. I hate it, but I'd hate to constantly be ruining pants because of it more.
Diva cup. I haven't bought feminine hygiene products in over 6 years. My love isn't out of its cheap price though, it is just such a better way for me. I would always have a tampon dry on one side and that hurt to pull out. Either that or the supers would leak. My periods are very unpredictable.
For the people who say tampons are uncomfortable, is sex also uncomfortable for you?
Not at all. I've never been able to use tampons. They just aren't comfortable at all. When all you've ever used are pads, it becomes normal. Granted, I haven't had a period in nearly 6 years, thank you Mirena, but if/when it comes back, I'll still go back to pads.

Pads are nasty. I don't want to sit in that shit. And if you're not completely groomed down there, your pubes stick and it hurts like a bitch when you pull it away.
I have to use both (not at the same time) because my cramps are so bad the first day or so that NOTHING is going up in there, so pads it is. But I prefer tampons otherwise. My flow isn't too heavy so it's not a huge deal. I remember being so grossed out by the sneeze/cough/stand up after sitting/etc. when I was a teenager and the river of blood would gush out, but now that I'm older that doesn't happen any more.

you haven't replaced your diva cup in six years?
Well I had 2 kids in that time, and nursed one for 1 year and one for 2, so I have really only had about 2.5 years use in that 6 years. However, I bought it when the label to the DC was for a 10-year use. I am going with that. I boil it every time and it doesn't leak.
Of course since the IUD, I rarely need anything at all and I am not sad about that.
I just got my IUD out a few months ago. I didn't really have periods either. Before I had an IUD, if I was not on BC, I maybe had a period once or twice a year. Since I have had the IUD removed, I have had a heavy period every month. I hate it!

Primarily I'm also a Diva cup girl, however, I've always found that Diva/tampons often add to the overall cramp-y ache on day 1 or 2, and following those two days I have no need for anything more than a liner. So every once in a while when I'm having a particularly rough cycle, I just use a pad, (as miserable as they are, i too hate the feeling of flow) but when you're ready to snap from the ache, the pads are better than adding to the discomfort by shoving something up there.

It depends on the type of flow.
On my heavy days I use both with the pad as a backup for the inevitable leak. On my medium days just the tampon with a liner as 'backup'. On my light days I'll go with a pad - but ONLY the ultra thin ones from Always.
I'll admit that before the Great Flood of 2013 I hadn't used pads since my very first period. I'm just all angry at pads being gross because I was wearing a tampon and a pad and a towel and ruined all my underwear and I DON'T LIKE BEING CALLED GROSS WHEN I WAS OBVIOUSLY VERY GROSS
