How severe was your injury that caused the break? How long did it take to heal?
I fell down 16 hardwood stairs on my ass over 6 weeks ago and it is still painful if I sit for longer than 5 minutes. Dr. Google is of no help, they say anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months.

YES IT WAS THE WORST.
oh my lord. it was the worst. i cried INSTANTLY. and it took a long time to get better. i think several weeks.
i had to bring a special pillow to class with me (i was in college at the time) because i couldn't sit through an entire class. i was the super babe with the ass-pillow on campus.
and i may or may not have depended on percocet to get through that time as well. it was just super painful.

My H did. It hurt every day for the better part of those six months and he still has times, like road trips, where it pains him. Adding a cushion to his work chair helped some he said.
I did. I was running stairs in the rain and slipped on the edge of the step. I bounced and landed a few feet below, knocking the wind out of myself, too. I got my breath back and actually kept running til I got back to campus. Then I showered and got up to my office, where I dumped my stuff and sat down. I immediately bounced back up, screaming. It was awful.
I don't know how I was able to run for another half an hour, but I couldn't sit down without my donut for at least a month.
My last vertebrae is flipped up parallel to my second to last. I've seen the X-rays and it's weeeeiiird. I can feel the end of my spine just above my buttcrack. Dh lovingly calls it my nub. Lol It was supposed to get pushed back down during childbirth but I ended up with csections.
I could be repaired with surgery, but now, like 18 years after the initial injury it doesn't get sore much. I think it's just something you rest and it essentially heals itself.

Downhill sledding - caught major air in a makeshift sled, landed on a rock and broke it. I had a PT put it back into place with manual therapy (I don't really recommend this unless you are EXTREMELY comfortable with your PT and it is also very, very painful, but it helped me a lot. This was a year ago - it still hurts me sometimes but probably four mos. of recovery or so.
Yes, both times during child birth. I couldn't go from laying to standing or visa versa for a month wo assistance and couldn't sit comfortably for 6 months.

I did about 15 years ago... fell off a speeding 4 wheeler... there is a special tailbone pillow that has a notch cut out of the back (I still have mine in my office at work!) that worked really well. The only thing I could do the first three weeks was lay on my belly (not conducive to work...). Mine hurt seriously for about a month and then eased up over the next 4-6 months...I hope you are a quicker healer than me

I did, ice skating. It took months to be completely pain free, and probably close to a year. It hurt to sit, and it hurt to stand up after I'd been sitting a while. It hurt to sit on something too soft, it hurt if I was sitting on something hard. It was awful. It did heal 100% eventually but it really was months and months. I hope you feel better. Maybe it was just a bone bruise.
Months. It was several weeks before i could get up from a seated position or get down to sit without howling. Getting in and out of the car was torture. I think it was 5 or 6 months before it wasn't constantly bothersome. It still bugs me to sit in the car too long, and it's been over 10 years.

YES, It fucking sucks. I broke it when I was 10 when I fell down some stairs. It took me a month to recover, and it still will hurt when I sit in hard chairs for too long or do sit-ups. I also fell on it again a few years ago sneaking out of FI's house in the middle of the night.
Seriously, take it easy. Sitting on cushions will be a life saver.

My H's best friend broke his this summer. He was super drunk on a float trip and jumped into a too shallow section of the river. He basically shattered it. His doctor described it as "gravel." He still has to sit on a donut pillow if he will be sitting for long periods of time. It's been about 4 months now. His will never fully heal though, so hopefully yours was not that serious!
Yep, I fell down several wooden stairs when I was picking up my cap and gown for high school graduation. It was the worst! Hurt for at least 6 months, probably longer. Like PPs, it still bothers me to sit in the same position for a long time.

I don't know if I had a fracture, or just a bruise or what. When I was 15 I was in an abusive relationship and the dick shoved me off of my porch onto the concrete walkay. Totally missing the 3 steps to go down, and landed right on it. He insisted I was faking being hurt because "You're so fat and landed on your ass, you're fine." Not fine. It hurt sitting, standing or laying down for about 2 months, with soreness that lingered a few months after that.

Roller blading as a kid. I don't remember how long. I do remember not bring able to sit. My brother would make fun of me on the bus for crying when we hit bumps. It is one of the worst pains. As an adult I find it hard to sit on occasion.
I didn't break mine but bruised the shit out of it downhill skiing. I couldn't sit comfortably for a good six months. It's been 2 years and it still hurts from time to time if I sit on hard surfaces or weird for a decent amount of time. It's the WORST.
