Seafood lasagna does sound amazing, but I don't see two 7 years olds eating it. At least I know my kids wouldn't have at that age. Shit, my 13 year old would still pick at it, and he has gotten much more open about food.
I would go with something a little more basic. Maybe pork tenderloins with seasoned baby red potatoes and a veggie, with soup or salad?? I say this only because of the kids. Otherwise, make sure you have something simple just for them.

I won't cook pork or beef, but I could see doing a roast chicken, maybe.
I also was thinking that maybe potato soup with a grilled cheese bar might be fun. (Choose your own cheese and toppings made to order.)

I would avoid cheese as an appetizer since you are doing grilled cheese for the main. Maybe a roasted shrimp cocktail for the adults and chicken satay (is that kid friendly enough?)
Yes, I think this would work out great.
Toppings for grilled cheese?
BREAD - Ciabatta - Italian - White bread (kid friendly)
How adventurous are the eaters? How fancy do you want to get?
My instinct is to go with some sort of pasta, since that is usually kid friendly. Maybe a seafood or short rib lasagna, big salad and fat bread with something chocolate for dessert, like a chocolate mousse cake.

That seafood lasagna looks amazing!!
I know, right? I think I'm going to make it this week.
