I had to google it - aluminum has to be over 1220 deg F to melt. I don't think I could get it that hot! I wish I had a kiln, those might get that hot.

It's cool looking, but it gives me the heebie-jeebies. It's completely insane, but I have this worry that fire ants are going to suddenly explode out of it.

They have one at the nature center here. It's new.
No idea if it is aluminum but it looked just like that.
