I finally got pissed enough and called corporate last night after being told Thursday they were overnighting my stuff and nothing came. Spoke to a Michael who said he led the customer relations dept.
He said he would give me 50% off the order. He was going to review the tapes of any calls recorded if I could provide date/time (which I did) and call me back.
I ended up going out and buying replacements for the gifts, most of which are similar but not exact and spent over $400 doing it (in addition to the $130 I spent at kohls). Really pissed I had to do that, since I can't use any of the items coming from kohls.
Michael called this morning and said he listened to the tapes and apologized for me being lied to repeatedly. He said the package is in their warehouse and will ship Monday. I said he should just cancel since I already replaced the items since I need them by tomorrow and even a day late is too late. He said he can't cancel it but I can return them for a credit. Yeah, like I'm buying there again. He asked if the $65 credit showed in my account. I looked and nope, there is a $5.30 credit, or half my balance after kohls cash. He said he would fix it. He said he would follow up Monday.
i am so pissed that this family asked for things like socks, shoes, boots, snow pants, food and a few specific toys and I couldn't get them exactly what they asked for. A 4 year old asked for winter clothes, a water bottle she can write on, a doc mcstuffins activity kit and princess Sofia stickers. I found things close enough for all but the doc kit. I ended up shelling out $65 for a doc treatment center because I can't disappoint this girl. Damn it she deserves the doc kit!
It's heartbreaking to see these wish lists and know I failed thanks to the assholes at kohls. Expect great things my ass. Expect all you want, just don't actually deliver.
This is what $400 bought For the oldest: chess set, Lego set, chemistry kit, v-tech learning game, board game, book For the middle: V-tech learning game, princess doll, tea party set, magnetic dress up set, 1 book, build your own jewelry kit For the little: doc mcstuffins treatment center, write-on water bottle, Disney princess sticker set, Sofia dress up set, crayola coloring set, my little pony gift set.
They all also are getting: new boots, socks, underwear, hats, gloves, snow pants, 2 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, a gift card for $10 to Walmart (so they can pick out their own gift/buy for someone else). Plus the organization gives food boxes. And I already had 1 present each from kohls: a weather center for oldest, a princess activity set for middle, a Sofia gift set for little and a coat for mom.
Mom is getting a gift card to Walmart, a gift card to a spa/hair salon, gift card to the gas station, hat, gloves, boots, laundry supplies, a certificate to the laundromat and a visa gift card good anywhere.
My kids are helping wrap everything and I have stopped to tear up a few times already when one will offer to get a toy/book/clothes to give too.
That sucks you are having to deal with this. That Doc Center is the hottest toy around here, they have been impossible to find, she will be thrilled.
They have been out of stock here every time I've looked, too. I am guessing it was a return, since it was still there at 9pm last night. Whatevs I will take it!
Thank you. Programs like this hit close to home, as I grew up POOR. Think 7 people living in a 2 bedroom/1bathroom trailer poor. But my dad would never have let us get help. Too much pride. So we did without a lot. New toys? Never. New clothes? Nope. I was lucky if they were only worn by the next sister up in age.
Ever since I started working at 15 I do this. Since having kids I have them help pick stuff out, wrap and deliver it to the programs that coordinate.
Trixie, you have done a good thing for that family. You hang onto that and don't lose your sanity due to Kohl's being rotten to you. I'm so sorry your road to kindness wasn't more smooth. Thanks, KOHL'S!!
(Why is all this stuff just sitting in warehouses to be shipped? Shouldn't it be gone already as new orders keep pouring in?)

Sounds like terrible service. I have had the opposite experience. My Black Friday stuff arrived in under a week, and then I placed an order at midnight on Monday and got half of it Wednesday morning and the rest Friday morning. Everything was free standard shipping.

I was told by some reps it was weather related, some it was due to too many orders, some that it was out of stock. Who knows?
Best thing I was told was one guy told me "You know, you're not the only one having this problem, right?". Yeah....
I even spoke to CS while placing the order to make sure the shipping I used would make it here. I was assured that it would leave their warehouse in 3 business days or less.

I did get 4 items within a week of ordering. Of course, these were things I could get at my walmart here. Just not the items that I couldn't get here.
I think it's time you found their Facebook page, and twitter.
I posted on their Facebook page and got an email with a coupon for free shipping. Some posters that had posted on kohls facebook formed a page called "make kohls care". It's full of other people who kohls has screwed.

That is a lot of gifts you are providing. You're a hell of a person. It brought tears to my eyes reading what you have gotten for this family. I should have swallowed my pride and gotten involved with a food bank or something to help out my family, but I just couldn't. Reading about how kind and giving you are gives me hope for the human race. Kohls may have fucked up, but you are giving stuggling people a whole lot of joy. I wish I could for real hug you.

This is so generous. Their Christmas will be better than they could have imagined. Sorry Kohls is giving you less than stellar service though.
I placed an order with them a couple of weeks ago and I went in my acct to track the shipment. It didn't show on my orders at all. I emailed customer service and today I get an email with a $25 certificate.

I got the email with the $25 certificate too. I have some Kohl's cash too, so maybe I'll place an order for stuff that it is NBD I don't get, but I still want the original order! They say it is shipped, so we'll see.
Awwwwww, thanks guys. Truth be told I tear up every year choosing the families, while shopping, while wrapping and when I deliver them to the office. I just want these people to have some joy- something frivolous that they WANT, not need.
Money is tight this year, since I quit working to SAH. But I have a Christmas club account we contribute to monthly to make sure we can do this.
My kids also don't get the same amount of things we give to the families. The kids get gifts other times, too, and I have tried to raise them to be grateful for what they do have, even if others get more. We also volunteer at several different shelters, homes, food services throughout the year so they can give in ways other than monetarily too. They love getting to talk to people and they seem to enjoy helping.
It's something I believe in, something that means something to me and I'm just glad that we are able to help.
You might want to tweet Khols and Walmart on your experience. I know you actually went to the store for Walmart but they might try and out do Khols here, you never know.
We gave the feel better check up center to Toys for Tots. It's not the same as what you have done but it is a hot toy this year and someone I'm no longer talking to told H to put it on ebay. That 4 year old will have the best Christmas!!!
I ordered tons of stuff. everything came super fast.
HUGE HUGE oversized box for two pairs of shoes. open it. Neither pair of shoes are in their shoe box. There was zero packaging materials inside the monsterous outter package. So two empty shoe boxes inside, and two pairs of shoes tossed around inside BOTH WITH SECURITY DEVICES ATTACHED!!!! I called and they said there is no way for me to remove them properly and go to store. Then one pair of shoes I ordered in wide. The box says wide, the shoes did not. I call. I can hear the customer service lady type in everything I'm asking as if she's just in an online chat with someone else asking them my question. It takes her forever to type and respond to me. Why the middle man??? ugh. She then says if the shoes don't say W on it, they are not wide. I ask how we can resolve the issue. Her response? "can't you just fit into the regular?" ARE YOU SERIOUS??? I say they are a gift, and no, they need wide. She tells me to return to the store since I have to go back to have the security devices anyway. I ask if the store will have the wide shoes... she can't really answer just saying "let me log onto kohl's.com and look at what they have". I finally just said I will go ask them at the store since there was about 5 minutes lag time after every sentence.
I resolved everything in the store but was a little disappointed I couldn't even get an apology or some type of discount after spending an additional 2 hours on the phone and the extra visit to the store. I would have never ordered online in the first place and would have chosen a different store had I known.
vent over.
Yeah, no. They screwed up they should fix it. Period. And no apology, no offer of FREE SHIPPING!!!!!!, or even a merchant credit is bull. Raise hell. Sorry they screwed you, too.
