I cannot fit in my pre-pregnancy pants, and I doubt I ever will again (my hips and thighs are huge now). My maternity jeans just slide down and I am constantly pulling them up and they chafe my legs.
So I still hope that I will lose some weight at some point I time, so I dot want to spend a ton of money on pants. So what did you do? Wear skirts? Leggings? Yoga pants?

I mostly wore yoga pants because I could fold the band up over my csection incision. I have a hard time with pants now because I still have lingering baby weight and refuse to buy bigger pants!

I wore my maternity pants for a few weeks and then when I had enough of feeling terrible about myself I bought a few pairs of bigger pants. Worth it. I did finally fit into my pre-preg pants, but it took some time.
ETA: Yes to stretchy skirts. I worse those a lot, too.

I bought some Gap jeans in my then-current size, and then as I lost the weight, I bought jeans in my new size. The weather was warming up at that point, so I think I did a lot of the Old Navy fold-over jersey skirts and dresses. But I liked having an actual pair of jeans that were relatively well made and fit my new body well.

I wore my maternity pants for a few weeks, and then I bought a pair of transition jeans. (Just regular jeans that were a size larger than what I wore before I got pregnant). I wore leggings and sweats a lot too since I was working from home and didn't need anything formal.
Almost nine months postpartum, the transition pants are huge on me now. I'm 2 pounds lower and a size smaller than I was before I got pregnant and am hoping to lose about 10 more pounds.
That in-between stage sucked. It wasn't that I wasn't happy with my weight, per se, since I lost the majority of the pregnancy weight pretty quickly - it was that I just felt like I was shaped differently and nothing was fitting right.
Also, I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but I did not fit in my pre-pg pants even when I was back to my pre-pg weight. I was about 12lb under my pre-pg weight before they "fit" and even then they didn't fit right because my body was just a different shape.

I have no preconceived notions that I will ever fit in those pants again.
I did stupidly think that I would actually lose more than 10 lbs after the birth, so now I have about 20 lbs to lose.

Luckily I fluctuate in weight a lot not pregnant so I was back into my "fat" pants pretty quickly. Honestly though I have just been wearing a ton of leggings. They are comfortable and I can dress them up a little with boots. I need to check out my work pants soon though because I am thinking I need to buy some in after Christmas sales.

A lot of toga pants. I can fit into my pre pregnancy fat jeans, so I wear those. I also have a pair of nice mat jeans that I did not get to wear while pregnant, because I got them for the fall, and I went into labor while it was still nice out, so I wear those because they still had the tags on them and I refuse to let them go to waste.
I've been wearing leggings and lounge pants around the house, and when we've gone out I've worn a pair of pre-preg jeans with the belly band (they have a good amount of stretch to them, though, which I am pretty sure is the only reason they still fit). I will probably just keep doing that until everything settles, since we're not supposed to take her out before 8 weeks anyway so it's not like we are going a ton of places, and then buy new pants if I need to.

There is no way I could've stayed at home for 8 weeks. My doc said as long as it wasn't a crowded place like a mall, we'd be ok.

All of you guys saying dresses, did you nurse? I have always preferred dresses, but I find that I can't easily breastfeed in most of my dresses so I'm wearing pants more than I ever have before. I hate it. Seriously, wearing dresses all the time again is what I'm most looking forward to about weaning.
I bought a few pairs of ON rockstar jeans and even though they were 2 sizes bigger than pre-pregnancy, I felt so skinny zipping up REAL pants! Lol.
They're obviously not maternity, but went into the mat storage bins for next time.
I did this exact same thing, down to the type of jean! I held off as long as I could, but I eventually needed to buy a pair or two of in between jeans. I didn't finish losing the baby weight for 6 months- way too long to be in yoga pants!

I just wear yoga pants and sweatpants around the house but I bought 2 pairs of cheap jeans in a bigger size because only one pre-pregnancy pair still fit me. (barely)
I bought the mid-rise rock star skinnies from Old Navy and a pair of cheapy boot cut J Lo jeans from Kohl's. They both seemed to fit my bigger ass and hips pretty well.
