Anyone want to help give style advice for an angel tree kid?

C&Ped from MM b/c I'm trying to get some quick advice and it's a little more active over here. I'm really lost because I don't know any teens and have no idea what the style is. 

Hi! I am a lurker coming in to get some feedback from people who probably spend more time with teens than me. I am shopping for a 14 year old from an angel tree. Her request was simply "boots to wear with skinny jeans."



I am thinking about getting these in black.

What do you think of these boots? Is a tall boot the way to go or should I be looking at combat or moto boots? I want to pick something safe since I don't know her style. Do teens still wear the ugg lookalikes and is there a good chance she already owns this style?

I like the Madden ones you posted! I think I might prefer the brown. Did she ask for black?

Thanks guys! No, she didn't ask for the black. I'm not sure which color I'm leaning towards.. I initially was thinking black just because it is a safer choice.

Yeah, I like the Steve Madden ones as well. I like the brown best but I also think the black would be great.
