What system works for you? I really want to find something and stick to it and be successful.
I have definitely gained weight the last few months and it's all in my stomach and thighs. I hate the way my clothes fit and people have commented on it. I want to change this.
I really like weight watchers. I used it to drop 10 lbs of baby weight last winter and getting ready to use it again to drop an additional 10 for beach vacations.

I'm sorry people were jerks to you about and actually said something about it!!
I cut out sugar and carbs. I don't eat things like bread, pasta, or sweets anymore but I don't deny myself a bite or two if I really want something. I don't count calories and I don't weigh myself.
I've gone from size 24 to size 14 this year. I also started walking and now work out 5-6 times per week for 60-75 minutes a day.
I used MFP and worked out on an elliptical 6-7 times a week. I lost 40 lbs in about 7 months. Cardio works best for me, and I love it. I also used Skinnytaste to make a large majority of my meals. Her recipes are so good and easy to make. They are full of "real food". I also avoided all "diet" foods. No 100 calorie snack packs, no frozen meals, no meal replacement shakes. I knew that I really just needed to change my portions, and cut out the fast food.
Find a workout you enjoy and commit to doing it 3-4 days a week to start.

I liked WW. I think the key is eating small meals packed with protein and limited carbs every few hours and exercising. I've gained a bunch if weight but Im trying to get back to this. I've done just about every diet known to human kind. Its hard yo. Good luck!
MFP as well, I can't run any more but I walk my butt off and do blogilates Pilates, light weights and yoga. Check out the blogilates app I live that I can do her workouts at home.
Two years ago I lost 20# with unweighed, unmeasured paleo. Now that I train for comps, I eat paleo that is higher on the carb side with potatoes and other tubers to keep up with my training volume.
I have wheat allergy, so doing a whole foods based GF diet was not a stretch for me.
I loved WW. I resisted the meetings and failed at doing it online at least 2-3x...when I did the meetings i lost 32 lbs. They're a little cheesy but the accountability was the key for me.

I also like My Fitness Pal. One of my favorite parts is that you can link up with friends and encourage each other. You can control what other people see, but it's nice to get an "OMG Way to go!" message when it pops up on your friend's feed that you lost .4 pounds or something like that.
I like MFP, but the problem is that I have to input every recipe I have before I can log things. It's time consuming, so I don't keep it up for long.
That's true - I do a lot of from scratch cooking rather than eating pre-packaged things. So it does take time to sit down and type everything in, but once it's in the system it's easy to add it to your diary in the future.
Ugh! You know? Now that I'm losing weight the only comments I welcome are "you look great". Anything else that has the weight connotation makes me cringe. I know how much it sucks when people assume you're pregnant and it's just that people shouldn't comment on weight period.
Weight watchers worked for me. Mostly because of the accountability part. Hanging to weigh in weekly. I lost 20 pounds when I did it. Unfortunately it lost its effect after I gained weight and tried it a couple more times. I just wasn't very motivated. My weight gain spiraled out of control after I came back from Colombia when my mom passed. I knew I needed outside help with motivation. So I joined a weight loss program with my gyn. What they do for me is helping with metabolism, energy and appetite. However the work is still hard: I eat only very lean protein and veggies. All veggies besides lettuce count as carbs and I don't even eat legumes. So no beans or pumpkin or anything starchy. I only eat two servings of fruit a day and not the very sweet ones like pineapple or banana. What I think makes the most impact week to week is the amount of water and fluids. At least 64oz of plain water and a total of a gallon (128oz) of fluids. No caffeine and no alcohol. I see the difference in weight loss when I don't drink water as much.

I've been doing the Fresh20, so I guess I just need to sit down on prep day and type everything in.
