I've done Atkins and lost a shit ton of weight super quickly. Even purchased those keto sticks that you pee on to tell me if I was on track or not. For me, it wasn't something I could do forever but yeah, it's fine if you need to drop weight quick and are prepared to put it back on.
Also, don't beat yourself up about not dropping weight. It is a process. Your baby is so young and it isn't unusual for the weight to not drop at this point. I didn't start dropping weight until around 7 months pp both times and it was off between 9-12 months.

This is reassuring.
I really think your body hangs onto weight on purpose. Some caveman shit or something. But eventually, especially as your baby becomes more mobile the weight comes off and your body starts to shift back. That was my experience.
I didn't lose an oz both times after I walked out of the hospital until that 7 month mark. But it came off!

We were FaceTiming my in laws yesterday, and I got a good glimpse of my PP body, and I almost cried.

I wish I had access to all of my 6 months pp pictures from last year. I would post them to just make you feel better.
It is amazing to even think I looked like that a year ago. It will be okay. I promise.

I lost 80lbs on Atkins in less than a year. I kept it off for 3 years. Then slowly gained it back of a period of 7 years. Lol I wouldn't say it's easy or very healthy diet. But it is very effective.
If you do it, I would recommend a whole foods approach to it: meat, natural fats, lots of non-starchy vegetables. There are a lot of Atkins products out there that are highly processed and that seems counter-intuitive to me.
I totally agree with this. I have been eating a modified version of Atkins for about 3 years and it's worked beautifully for me.
I did a modified version of Atkins that I called the "spindlekins" (my real name though, not my screen name) and it worked great for me. This was several years ago and in the last year my eating habits have gone to shit so I am starting it up again after the holidays.
It was my wedding diet! I lost a ton of weight and lived on cheese, meat, veggies and redi whip. Its great if you have to lose weight for an event but not as a lifestyle for the long haul.
This is along the lines of what I was going to say. I lost a ton of weight with it on it, but it really isn't sustainable at all. And if not careful, the weight all comes back. At first we lived on sausage cheese as bacon omelets. Then switched to chicken breast and salads It got old fast. This was ten years ago.
I would try for more of a south beach type diet. Still strict in the first two weeks but then far more sustainable.

It is effective mainly because every carb molecule is attached to two water molecules. So when you first stop eating carbs, you lose a ton of water weight. And if you ever want to resume your normal eating habits, you'll most certainly put it all back on.

I did it for a while, and it worked quite well. It was leading up to my wedding, and I took off the last weight that I had been struggling to lose. It wasn't bad after the first 2 weeks, when you first adapt. I was on it for several months.
The thing I would caution you about is using it to jump start a diet. When I came off of it I gained weight quicker than ever before, and its been harder to lose since.
I agree with the comment you should try to stick to a many whole foods as possible. Many of the low carb formulated products are not as healthy and can also slow your weight loss.
I still to eat generally low carb because I'm at risk for diabetes. I feel much better when I am not eating a lot of carbs. Atkins is a severe version of this, but if you just try to rule out of many processed and simple carbs on a daily basis as possible I think you will see the results, even without extremely cutting down your "good carbs" from vegetables and the like.

It is a fad diet that will allow you to lose weight for a brief period of time but gain it back once you resume consuming carbs. I do not consider it to be very healthy and would never recommend it to one of my patients. I prefer a clean eating, whole foods centered approach combined with daily exercise and plenty of water.
DH and I tried it last winter and while I lost some weight, the no carbs thing about killed me. I had horrible violent dreams/nightmares, was a cranky bitch and that all went away when I ate a bagel.
We moved to WW and were more successful with that. We have gained back much of the weight we lost but we fell way off the watching what we ate wagon in the summertime.
