motherfucker.
noah had a friend stay over a few weeks ago who had a bit of a cough and a cold. the following weekend noah stayed at his house, and i didn't know he was still sick. two days later, noah was sick with a violent cough and cold. he had some pretty bad coughing spells for the first few days after he was sick, but i hadn't noticed anything bad after day five.
he told noah today that he has pertussis. and noah had stayed the night at his house a couple of weeks ago (after the friend had stayed here).
so i asked noah about his coughing that he had (which, coincidentally, i had joked was pertussis because a few times he coughed so hard that he lost his breath) and he told me he still has a few coughing spells each day that have him winded. and he has been super tired these last few weeks.

Fucking hippies who don't vaccinate their damn children. Kill that kid's mother.
holy christ.
Woah... Hold the phone, no one suggested the kids mother receive a bubble necklace instead of a rachet set, for SS so execution may be off the table.... for now....

We don't know if the kid was vaccinated or not. The immunity can wear off so it may be the kid was vaccinated but got it anyway. If the kid was never vaxed for it or the Mom refused a booster then she can be pissed at her.

Oh no! I hope it's just a lingering cough. That's scary and stressful, last things you need 9 days before Christmas (not that there's any GOOD time to have this happen).

alright, so i took him to the doctor (where i ran into alzi) and while we were waiting i texted his friends mom to say i'm sorry to hear that her son has pertussis and that my doctor wanted to know if he was current on his vaccines and what they are using to treat (which, he didn't, but i wanted to know).
she texted me back saying that he does not have pertussis, just some sort of virus and that he wasn't honest with noah. however, since the letter that came home from school today said there is at least one student infected with pertussis that she looked up the symptoms and it sounds plausible that that is what her son has and she is going to have him checked.
noah's pedi said that his lungs sounded alright and to call immediately if we noticed an increase in symptoms, but i had him swab for it anyway. his culture should be back friday at the earliest, but more than likely beginning of next week.
also, tdk2, evan isn't immunocompromised. his port is the concern in that if he were to get a virus that it could burrow its way into the line that dangles by the aorta and could be spread systemically in less than the number of times his heart beats in one minute, giving rise to the dangers of bacteremia and/or septicemia.
