Yeah, one of my friends did the same thing to me this weekend in a store. "Hey, I still owe you a birthday present. Pick something" and I just couldn't. What was her budget? The things I wanted were not the cheaper things. TOO MUCH PRESSURE.

Pick out something you will wear, that is what she would want you to do. (And ditto the pp, she isn't paying the price listed).

Also, if you choose something cheaper that you don't care for then she'll never get to see you wear it (because you won't wear it).  Get what you like.  She is hoping you do!
