Find out of the hospital has paid parking lots/garages, if so then cash for parking. If the hospital cafeteria offers gift cards, that would be good. The traveling, the incidentals that we would usually consider small just add up. Gas cards are great too. Coupons and fast food gift cards. Gift cards to their favorite pizza place so that when they are home they don't have to cook if they don't want to.
how about a night in a hotel. 7 hours in a car, then chemo, then 7 hours back sounds impossible. is there a ronald mcdonald house or something?
They actually have to stay in a hotel. No Ronald McDonald house, just a discount at the hotel. He needs to be there one week per month for the next 6 months. Maybe I can find out the hotel and pay for a night.
Babies should never get sick. FUCK cancer, especially baby cancer.
Gift cards, prepay the hotel (or certs to the hotel), fast food, pizza delivery when they're there, certs to the hospital for parking, food and gift shop. Gas cards. What everyone else has said.
Super-soft pajamas for the little guy. As soft and seamless as you can find.

There is a Ronald McDonald House in Philly. We stayed there when M had his surgery, and it was amazing. If they are booked solid, they can also give the family discounts on stays at local hotels. They did that for us two nights at the Sheridan, right across from CHOP.
I'm so sorry for them. Sending lots of prayers and wishes for their luck to turn around.
Maybe a tablet/handheld game for the kiddo during treatment? I remember how absolutely boring it was being hooked up for hours and you can only entertain a little one with tv for so long.
Ditto soft seamless pj's, gift cards for gas, etc. Also see if there are any places you can get gift cards to that will deliver food to the hospital. The food at most of them tends to repeat, so if they are there for a week maybe they can get food delivered during treatments.
Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers for all of them. You are a good person for helping.
This just breaks my heart. is there anything we could do to help? Are they in contact with an oncology nurse navigator? I know one through work, and she is great at making sure families have every resource possible available for them.
Thanks everyone, I am not local, about 2 hrs from them but they do have a lot of support. My mom and her parents/ aunts/ uncles / sister live close. I'm going to find out details about where they are staying and how to best help them. My family is good at rallying. I organized a fundraiser last year with my brother for my 39 yo cousin with breast cancer and we raised 10,000 dollars so I am confident we can all come together again. I just feel so helpless emotionally.
