so, he's not gaining as much as would be ideal (but is gaining and is otherwise fine and healthy so no one is worried yet nor is supplementation recommended) and the doctor thinks it's related to his giagantic quantities of spit up, so the main thing to do is to let his digestive system mature. i'm also trying to up my supply to help out (per doctor recommendations). and we're monitoring.
ANYway, even though the doctor is all "nbd, we'll do a weight check he seems fine", i've been obsessively googling all sorts of things related to infant feeding/statistics/etc. i just checked out the CDC height/weight/head circumference charts. 30% for weight, 50% for height, and 75% for head size! no wonder he looks like a short lollipop.
DD was always way up there with the head size. She seems to have grown into her lollipop noggin, so chances are good that O won't look like Kelly Ripa when he heads off to Kindergarten.
I swear kids heads are getting bigger or something. Ds has always been 50th, 50th, and then 95th up to off the charts. Lol. I retire his tshirts based on when he outgrows the head hole.
I've heard of many babies having percentiles that aren't even (head/weight/height) and even though the dr. brings it up to watch, they evened out.
Has he gone down considerably in weight percentile?
40th to about 30th.
That seems like nbd, but I know it's a little scary to hear if you're going through the mental game of "is my milk enough???" that bfing moms do- myself included.
C jumped around the charts during his first year too.

My guy was always less than 10 for height and weight and 95+ for head. I was just looking at pics and was in shock. I didn't realize how big his head was...

since 6 months, G has had a 95%+ head... it's ridiculous that his head barely fits through 18 months sized neck holes in shirts... but they said he's totally fine, just lots of brains! haha
Thanks everyone. My doctor is so great and he otherwise seems fine, so I'm trying to be cool. I mean, he already does the mini push up so his giant head and non ideal weight gain aren't holding him back from being totes advanced and perfect.
Both my boys were always off the charts wrt head circumference. To the point that both had to have CT scans to check and make sure nothing bad was going on in there. Nope, just huge heads.
My 4 year old can wear an adult men's medium/large hat, no lie.
